Default Few questions...

hey guys i gotta 94 Xj just put in a rebuilt 97 motor, running good now. just got done my 6.5 LA lift from IRO.

I plan to run 36s and 4.88s soon, right now i have 33s, but i would like to go to a bigger tire, but i dont want to damage axles (D30 FRONT D35 REAR) this is my DD and weekend warrior. would 35s be ok?

also when i changed the new motor form the 94 to the 97, i had to tap in somewhere for the water temp gauge on the dash, since the 97 didnt have a rear port on the back of the head I tapped the front thermostat housing. and it works, but i was just wondering where everyone elses reads at? Mine seems high, but i could be wrong, i just cant remember what the old motor read.

When i turn my A/C or heat on i only get floor or windsheild vents, no dash vents. i heard something about the vacuum lines?

thanks for any input guys!

In regard to your first question, I've never had a d35 but from everything I've read, 33 is about the maximum you can safely run. The d30 on the other hand can handle locked 35s. If your wanting to run 35s you could just swap in a c8.25 or d44 in the rear from another XJ. If you're wanting to go bigger than a 35, you might want to consider swapping in some heavier axles.

Definitely ditch that D35.

This is usually where my water temp gauge sits at. Does it seem normal?

Few questions...-forumrunner_20130821_123537.jpg

That's a little hot. I have a 98 engine in my 92. I put in an aftermarket gauge and installed it in the drain plug on the drivers side of the block, same location the renix had the temp sensor. Works fine for me, verified with IR gun.

As for the d35, I wouldn't run anything larger than 33's on it. Vent issue is probably due to the vacuum canister installed behind the front bumper, check the line running to it.

Now the sensor to that gauge is tapped in the thermostat housing in the front. It should be in the rear of the head. Would that make any difference?

Only way to know would be to get an IR gun. They're well worth the money.
