Where to hide a spare key
Where is a good spot to keep an extra key, and that it will never fall off or get lost? Somewhere on the outside of the jeep? I Just got to hang out with the fire department for about 15 minutes while they jimmied my door open for me in the cold as heck snow and sleet and rain...
I suppose I could get a hitch with a lock that holds a key if there's no good spot to keep it. I dont trust zip ties or magnets.... Maybe some stainless steel wire coated in plastic that wont rust away and break and lose the key....
BTW I live in Denver if anyone ever wants to come break into my Jeep after this. Hahahahahahaha. It'll be like where's Waldo for the key. I'll keep a joint in the glove box for your reward.

I keep a spare in my wallet. The duplicate I had made at Home Depot is round but just metal no plastic.
So it lies flatter in my wallet.
I had to replace my ignition awhile back and instead of opting for the one you can rekey I bought the other one.
So now I have a door key and an ignition key. Which I like cause it reminds me of all the old school GM's I used to own.
Well I have a spare ignition key stashed inside the Jeep.
And I ain't saying where. LOL.

I don't drive with my wallet in my pocket. So I can still lock all my keys in there by accident. Now 99,999 times out of 100,000 if I'm getting out of my Jeep I'm bringing my wallet with me. So the chance is extremely slim, but existent.

I just take the bare key copy and 6" of solid bare #14 copper house wire and attach by twisting it under the front end, from a transmission line by the oil pan. Done that for decades will all mine. Also good for hanging mufflers etc. Lol

One time saw a video where a guy locked the keys in his XJ and was able to reach in and open the door.
Through the hole in the floor pan. LOL.

I can see the wire working good... I also read where someone was able to remove the antenna and then take the weather stripping off the bottom of the window on the outside and use the ball on the end of the antenna to grab the clip on the rod that is for the door locks and then pull it and it worked. so you're either have to have your antenna on finger tight or carry an open-end wrench or pliers to get it off hahaha...

Here is an idea. This will get you into your car. From here, you'd need to keep a spare hidden somewhere in your Jeep. But, at least you'd be able to get in.
