So I was stuck in swampwater the other day and managed to lose my exterior key.

I heard you can get a key made from your doorlock with a special tool.I called a few local companies and it would be $65+

Other option is replacing my door locks and my hatch lock,dunno how much that would run.

Went to the jeep dealer because I've read they can look up your vin and cut you a new one.They looked up my vin and it turned out to be too old,go figure.

It's a 1990.

What do you guys think I should do?

 

cheaper to get the key made. The Im sure the lock set runs about the same as the key maybe a little cheaper but then you have the time and labor tearing all the door panels and back hatch apart to replace the cylinders. I would really just spend the money on the key!

 

If you get anyone to make you a key with a "special" tool, make sure youpayafter it is complete and you test every lock, ignition, tailgate spot it goes to.

 

Drive it to a locksmith with a walkin shop. Most shops around here only charge about 25 to fit a key for a door if you bring it to em. Plus it's stupid easy to cut a key to any jeep.
