Im thinking that this is a fuel problem, i have disconnected the battery 3 times now, the check engine light will go off for awhile, the truck will run excellent, and then the light will come back on, and shell start strugglin again. Has anyone ever had this problem?? And has there ever been a fix (fuel pump/injectors possibly?), and could my ecu need a cleaning on the plugs?? Thank you!!
Dukie is right check and clean TPS and MPS, it's good to clean them out anyway even if it's not the problem.
But I had the same issues you had. I replaced my O2 sensors and still had the bad, rich running symptoms. Engine light would still come one and such. **Side note** I could pull one of my fuel injector harnesses off (and then put back on) and force the computer/engine it to stay in open loop, this would at least keep it from running in limp mode.
Eventually I purchased two NGK o2 sensors from rockauto and the CEL light has never come back on.

The front shaft from a 2wd XJ should work tho.
Are the splines the same though? I'm going to have to shortened.

Depends on the wheelin'. I see you have a '91. I know the later D30s are stronger, can't remember exactly what it is but U-Joints ring a bell. Do the shafts just need to be swapped?

if you're only going 8.8 in the back, stay with the d30. The housing is more than sufficient to run tall gears and big tires. You'll want to plan on upgrading the shafts to cromo ones and bigger joints if you go 35"+, but it's a very stout front axle when built up a bit.

Yea its the 91 that would get the 8.8. It has the ABS shafts. Although it no longer has ABS. It has 3.73s too.

If keep the d30 I will probably keep the spare I have (non-abs, 3.55s) and built it up this winter. I don't plan on going bigger than 35 and honestly thinking about sticking with 33s.

So basically I'll:

Finish my repairs and lift stuff
Weld up the d35 rear it has
Maybe Aussie the front
Rock that with the used 33s I got
Look for 8.8 3.73 posi
Get said 8.8 in there
Rock that for a while and build up the spare d30 (or the whole time prolly)
Build the 8.8

Probably going to shoot for before summer next year provided the worlds still here.

Are ARB lockers the only full case locker that will do 30 spline? And about 30 spline, can one only have 30 spline shafts at the pumpkin? No way of having 30 spline hubs like stock ones?

a welded d35 is a recipe for disaster with 33s.

OK, I have what I hope to be a simple question...seems like I am in the right place for that, my apologies if I don't post the question in the correct place on the thread. I purchased a 2000 Jeep Cherokee (after my 1987 Comanche was stolen and destroyed :-( ). I understand that it was used for police work, and the numerous radio & computer brackets I had to remove - along with the unexpended round of .40 cal S & W I found under the back seat! - seem to support this. The vehicle I have came with an "idiot lights" dash which I hate and which I would like to switch to full gauges. I have found a few (gauge panels) for sale that indicate that they will be a direct swap for Cherokees "w/o police package". Is there a way I can verify if my vehicle HAS the police package? Though it was apparently used for law enforcement, I know this doesn't guarantee a particular engine/tranny/chip/whatever package and want to try to ensure the gauges will work correctly before I plunk down the cash. Also, what problems might there be if there IS a police package present and I use a standard gauge set (speedo problems due to gearing come to mind, but I appreciate any other thoughts here)? Thanks for the help!

you can always email jeep customer service and ask for a build sheet that will tell you everything that came in the jeep from the factory. if you have an 'extended idle' switch beside your rear defroster/wiper switch then its probably the police package. i think the police package might have also come with the rubber floor?

Today while driving I tried to adjust my power rear view mirror and the radio went off, along with the power to mirrors and dome light... Blown fuse? If so where?
