Water pump? Rad cap? Is the coolant low? And how high does it heat up? Is it drawing coolant in and out of overflow?

Water pump is a few year old... should replace the cap... coolant not low and its not sucking anything out of the overflow bottle. Doesn't overheat just gets up to 218* and the fan kicks on. The thing will heat up with the fan on in traffic too...

I'd replace the cap with a stant or better and see where that gets you... if it doesn't help at all its probably the pump... I had se problem, on top of a leak. And I did new fan clutch, water pump, thermostat, therm housing, rad cap and belt, plus flush and fluid. It now operates like it should

Lol. It happens. I just like to replace all the stuff that's worn at once. And actually this time I was going to reuse the therm housing, I usually buy new ones ne ways. But I cleaned the old one good and it looked fine. But when I was reinstalling everything, it snapped in two... had to wait an hour for my grandpa to come by and drive me to auto zone for a new one. In hindsight I should just bought one knowing the old one probably had 190k on it.

And that's after I wire brushed it real good.

And the top one is also why I hate RTV, see how it oozed out? There was a lot more on the thermostat too, blocking the flow.

RTV's not a bad thing.... being to liberal with the application is what's bad.

Honestly I hate cleaning the stuff I hate putting the stuff on, I just plain hate it. Lol. I've tried using it 3 times, first was on a therm housing, j had to redo it because it started leaking. The second time was on my 91s diffs, they leaked, re did those with paper gaskets, no leaks. And just recently on my 99 diffs I used it finally, no leaks and it was the first time I DIDN'T follow directions to a T. But it was still a PITA to clean it off...

I guess there's no way around it on certain things like a tcase, but if its something I can get a gasket for I'm using a gasket for now on.
