If you were trying to install those in the slotted location at the knee panel, they won't fit (as you noticed). The premium sound system (Jenson Accusound) had 3" Tweeters in those locations. That's a terrible location for tweeters, and there are very few if any aftermarket speaker options to fit there.

Yeah, sucks. On my way to the jy to find another one. Do you think some 3.5" speakers would fit, or would the magnet still be too big?

Something like this:

Measure twice, cut once. Lol. The golden rule.

I think since you already hacked up the piece maybe try and make a spacer and make the speaker sit above the trim piece a bit. Worth a try.

I haven't tried it, but I've read that practically nothing fits. I'd be happy if you prove me wrong, cause I was wondering the same thing yesterday.

Related question: Does anyone know if a pre-97 soundbar will fit a roof without a headliner? That may be my fix for losing the door speakers.

That was my original plan, but I cant find one that isn't falling apart. It will probably be a loose fit without the headliner.

I might be able to get it to work, but not without it looking like total garbage lol. I cut the grate part out.

Yea. I figured whatever would make it work wouldn't be pretty.

Anyone know if I can take my 99s rear bumper off the bumper brackets without removing the brackets? I just want to paint it and put it back on. I know theres two bolts on the bottom side. Is there ones on the inner side of the bumper attaching it to the brackets?

Hey folks. I just picked up my first jeep (98 xj), traded for my subaru wrx, and couldn't be more thrilled. The guy that built it really did it over and built it nice. But he did delete the ac system, which I'm fine with, but the hvac only blows warm to hot air. Is there some way to get cool air to vent in? It's hot out!

I found the a lower dash piece after searching 3 junk yards. It still has some factory tweeters (although very small), do I just wire these like regular speakers?
