So after I replaced the pos joke of a 5 rib belt with the proper 6 rib I have more voltage but I noticed at idle my voltage gauge goes up and down 1or2 volts constantly. Driving it stays steady

Thanks for the quick and helpful response. I'll look into it.

Just a heads up, last poster is correct about spacers and shackles but jut a FYI, that's gonna put you up over an 1". That meaning do you hAve an sye or TC drop kit. You have the large shocks. There's gonna be a bit more involved when you go up. You could do MJ shackles for about 3/4" in the rear and pucks upfront

X2 on spacers. The 99's didn't have much problems at 4 inches when it came to driveline angle, but TC drop is definitely a must. Generally speaking, anything over 3" is opening a small can of worms. But nothing that can't be cheaply overcome while still maintaining ride quality and safety. Sad to say all xj's seem to be different when it comes to "what needs to be done after lifting." My 2000 NEEDED a TC drop 3", but once I went to 4.5 it was time for an SYE. The 00-01 are the years for problems tho which make the 99 nice to have

Sweet! Thank you for the info, the seal I got from 4 Wheel Parts is obviously not the right one, too big and no spring.

In addition to what others are saying about pucks/shackles and SYE don't forget that around 4" changes to the steering geometry and all that jazz that holds the front axle in place will become more pronounced

Is that with your AC or many other accessories on? Are your RPMs staying constant, when your voltage varies?
Mine will die down briefly, like at a stop light, if I've been driving for a while, and picks back up as I move again. But, it doesn't fluctuate a whole lot, unless my idle changes.

Where the steering shaft comes through the firewall, is there supposed to be anything there to seal it up? I notice there is just a hole in the firewall for it to pop through, but it is flush with the metal around it.

It looks like there are ridges to direct water away from the opening, but seems like water could still get in. Just wanting to make sure a rubber "boot" or something isn't missing before I replace my floors, so that I am not getting water under my carpet from that opening.

thanks

Okay so I got the old seal out, went to Oreillys and got a new one, coated the outside in some RTV Black and started at it with a rubber mallet. Would not go in straight, bent the new seal and gouged the housing a bit. I have exactly $15 to get a new seal, again, and to get something to help me drive it in without damage. Recommendations?

Default Elecrical Diagrams for 86 diesel Cherokee

I have an 86 with 2.1l renault diesel engine. A former owner has butchered the wiring associated with the diesel engine controls, tach and gauges. I bought the repro service manuals from Bishko but they do not sem to contain the wiring diagrams. The diagrams I have found don't seem to have any of the diesel stuff on them. Can someone please point me to where the diesel version of the body, chassis and engine electrical diagrams are?
thanks,

Is it bad that my front driveshaft is at an angle like this? My longarms are all adjusted to the same length, but something seems off.
