I'm trying to figure out this noise as well. Freaking annoying as it comes and goes. If you can, jack up the front and pop the rims and brakes off. Give the dust protection plate thing a good look along with the rest of the brake components. Start checking for slack by wiggling the hub or rim itself. Should be no side-to-side movement. If there is then your bearings are on the way out

 

I don't know of there is a write up on it or what, but I remember reading somebody doing it on here, couldn't tell ya who. But they said to take a part the dash and paint it to what ever color you were going with, and then same with the door panels. And all the other trim. Imo the door panels I can picture not adhering to the paint that well because they are that cushiony leather but I'm not sure. I do recall him using some special kind of paint. If you search hard enough you might be able to find it. Search for an interior mod thread. I'm pretty sure that where I saw it. You'll find some other neat stuff in there that you might like too. And you are on your own for the seats haha. Not sure how you can do those.

 

Anyone know if the filler neck is the same on the XJ as it is on the MJ? I'm having a hard time getting useful search terms on Google.

EDIT: Looks like they're the same. 4WD.com lists both applications for their OEM replacement.

 

I need new shocks I'm at stock height but I'm planning on getting a lift within a few months. Can I just buy the shocks for 2.5-3.5 lift now or won't they work at stock height?

 

they might, but you'll bottom them out over every bump. Best wait to throw them on (aka deal with the ones that are on it for a few months)

Yes and the spring is there to keep tension on the rubber of the seal.

Pouring rain, very humid, and sputtering on the highway. Gas gauge is pegged way past full and it stalled out twice. In a parking lot waiting for my friend who is a tow truck driver to come tow it home. Wtf is going on? I'm thinking fuel pump? Fuel filter isn't too old, and I put Seafoam in a couple months ago. There is a leak on the top part of the tank (slow leak when full). Could that create unsavory happenings in the tank that could create intermittent fuel delivery?

 

I'm no expert but these Jeeps assume a fuel system with a certain pressure. What you're descriing should cause the same issues as running with a bad or missing gas cap.

 

So that could possibly be due to the hole that it's leaking from? Causing a similar effect?

 

The new seal will have a new spring in it already.
