That's a D35, but for that year, the 8.25 wasn't any better.

Find yourself an 8.25 out of a 97+ and you'll be hooked up with 29 spline axle shafts.

Yeah, definitely don't waste your money on upgrading the 35. You can throw a bunch of money into it with chromo shafts and c-clip eliminators and lockers, but for the money you'll spend, there's much better axles right out of the box.

If it has ABS it has a Turdy 5

Edit:
Also 8.25 has flat spots top and bottom and a rubber fill plug:

correct but there's some d35's that came on non-ABS models too so best case is to memorize how the axle looks like (with a flat lip on bottom) and search for it.

This is a Chrysler 8.25. The massive flat spot sticks out farther than the cover. On the D35 the cover matches the housing shape perfectly.

Also isn't there a 27 spline version of the 8.25? Is it '99 and later has 29 spline?

in 1996 they changed to 29 spline version but there's a mix of both in that year, so to be truly safe, it's generally recommended to choose one from 97-01

Default Cylinder 1 Misfire

Advice needed.. I have a 98 4.0 with 168k on it, having a cylinder 1 misfire.
Prior to this:
1. CPS went out- replaced w/out issue
2. Smog shop ripped off a vacuum line on the top of the manifold - fixed torn boot/cleared CEL no issue
3. Leaky Trans Cooler Line - Fixed
4. Replaced motor and tranny mounts.
After the mounts I got a CEL P301
1. Switched injector 1 & 3 code stayed with cylinder 1
2. Replaced wires/plugs/cap/rotor - no change
3. Took it in for a compression and leak down test - all very good - no change
4. Used BG 44k in the gas tank and have driven it around 600 miles (2 tanks of gas). Still having the misfire esp when cold.
How long before I see results with the BG 44k? Should I retreat? Any suggestions or advice on how to proceed is greatly appreciated.

Is there any damage on wiring or plug on injector 1?
