Can someone get a resistance rating on their battery temp sensor when charging at 14 volts?
I'm just going to buy a resistor to put in place of the sensor.

Another short trail ride. After replacing my AC compressor. Started up the trail. Temp was holding at 212. Mild climbing dirt road. Temp started climbing, got to 220. No problem. Stopped to turn around. Next 20 seconds, the Temp went to max and Check Gauges light came on. Started down trail and in 20 seconds I was back to 220 temp. What is causing me to overhead, only when there is mild stress on the engine. Does not overheat while idling for just driving around. Only when I start up hill. No antifreeze in oil. RSWiser
My mechanic friend has gone over everything in my Jeep. Can't figure out why I am overheating. He want to put a 180 degree Thermostat in and see it that helps.
Idle, drive around town, freeway temps are great. Start up a slower pace incline, not steep and not in 4 wheel and I start to overheat.
Someone has had this problem. Help.

Replaced original Fans with 3 electric that work great. They are pulling the air through.
Regeared to 4:10 running 32" Tires.

Does anyone know the size and thread of the stock brake bleeders on a 1988 xj. One of mine is rounded off and needs vice grips to bleed it. I'd like to replace it before it seizes like all the other bolts!

Haha vice grips is what I use as well! Just go to autozone and pick some up. They do have them.

blower resistor
I've had this Jeep for only a couple weeks. My heater fan works on high only, and my manual sez the resistor for low speeds is under a cover, under a "vacuum motor" which I assume is a vacuum canister for heater valves. Anyone know where the named cover is ? Under the dash someplace ?

A properly functioning thermostat, regardless of the temperature opening setting, will not cause you to overheat. 195 is ideal for our jeeps, and most vehicles for that matter. Most overheating issues come from either a leak or a coolant flow issue. I'd try to flush the system, again if you already have. Verify your water pump is functioning correctly. Also you need to make sure your e fan setup is pulling enough cfms
, are you SURE that the water pump is pumping in the right direction? If the belt is running on the correct side of the pulley, the only other thing to check is whether the pump's veins are facing the proper direction. You could check that by inspecting through the hose outlet. I THINK the XJ water pump turns IN REVERSE direction to what is normal. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/a...tation-293751/

Have you ever seen a cherokee with a rough idle but no movement in rpms? For example, when I'm in my car every morning as it warms up, the car has a shake to it. It's not misfiring and the rpms are stable. I do have new spark plugs with about 2k miles on them. Any idea where I should check first to diagnosis this problem/is this even a problem at all?
