i want to replace my front driveshaft with one I got from the JY since my current one has some play in it.

is it possible to re-use the u-joints from the old driveshaft? It might sound cheap but the one at diff yoke was replaced less than a year ago, so instead of trashing them I would try to take them off and see how they look. if no needle bearing falls out, can I just add some grease and be done with it?

I don't see why not as long as they look good to use.

Got some odd stumbling and hard to start issue. It will start, then stumble to 500rpm or so, then goes to 1200rpm for a second, and back down to normal.

Fuel pressure maybe?

So,move been smelling gas while drivin down the road lately so I decided to pop the hood and check everything out. I did not see any visible leaks but I did notice a clean spot around injector 5 where it may have been leaking. So I decided to remove the fuel rail and injectors to check the o rings. When doing so, I went to relieve pressure on the fuel rail at the little cap/pressure port thing and o don't think what happened is normal. I must have soaked 3-4 blue shop paper towels before the pressure was gone. Is that normal? Engine was still hot/warm btw. If I recall correctly, I thought it usually only takes a second to relieve the pressure. I literally had to hold the button open while fuel sprayed out, going through 3 rags. So am I worried over nothing or is this normal.

Does it do it when you start it when your motor is still warm? I'd guess possibly vapor lock or maybe your IAC is dirty.

Nope just first start of the day. Drove to Napa and had the battery load tested, and it fired up fine afterwards. Battery checked out okay.

Gotcha. Yeah, if it's rusty, then pinhole leaks are definitely a possibility.

I've heard mixed reviews regarding the injectors. Some swear by the 4 hole injectors, some swear by obtaining better performance by simply just cleaning their factory singles.

Try the poor man's prime. Turn the key to on (but not start), then turn off, then on again, then start... if your jeep starts right up, it's most likely the fuel check valve gone bad. Common problem.

If it doesn't, it may be the fuel filter or fuel pressure regulator.

Anybody? Could this be a bad fuel pressure regulator?

There's quite a bit of pressure there.

If it were over pressuring, the Jeep would run rich as a pig.

I havnt noticed any rich running but maybe it is. Usually, a tank of gas last me a week but I burnt through a tank just over this weekend alone. Also, My engine oil smell a little like gas. Could that be related?

Probably not. When the regulators fail they deliver LESS pressure.

Fix your injector issue.

I pulled the injectors out, tested them for leaks and no leaks, but I did find some torn o rings which I replaced. What else could cause high pressure?

Test your fuel pressure if it concerns you. The pump can put out 110 PSI, but you should see 31 at idle with the vacuum hose connected to the regulator and 39 PSI when you disconnect it.

What kind of shape is the vacuum hose to your MAP sensor?

vacuum line looks good no cracks. I'll test the fuel pressure and see what it is. Thanks.

Default Suspension overhaul

I'm trying to replace all suspension components and give my boy a 2"lift at the same time,...going ok except I broke a leaf spring bolt! I can't find the thread where I found the solution,.....but it worked! Cut a hole right below the bolt and knock off the nut from the inside....also the last guy to put shocks on Welded the bar pins to the body!so a lot of grinding, drilling and cursing ,..also some tapping any the bar pins/shocks are installed correctly lol
