Hello, I have a 98 4dr sport xj and it has remote locks. I can lock and unlock all of the doors just fine except the drivers door. The lock button on the inside will switch over to unlock or lock, whichever one selected, but it wont actually lock it. Any ideas on what to do? I need to get it to lock because I dont want anything stolen.... Thanks!!!

If you can actually hear it locking and unlocking open the door up and make sure the 2 bars are in the plastic pieces. It's not hard to open up an xjs door three screws and a bunch if plastic clips

I did that and they are both latched in there. Actually the top one even pushes the button over when I lock it. ?????

ive got a 93 cherokee i just picked up for a trail rig. my buddies 01 just crapped out the tranny, floor is rusted, and the steering is shot so hes going to junk it. what are some parts i could pull off the 01 for my 93 to make it better? i know the intake manifold upgrade and front axle shafts are one piece with stronger ujoints. i would swap over my 27 spline for his 29 spline 8.25 but his shock mounts are broken and it has a leaking pinion seal. are there any other common upgrades?

Can the key lock or unlock it? If it cant, put the key in the lock and push the inside button till the key turns all the way. Then try the door switch and see if it works.

Default np 231 issues

hey,

I just bought a 1996 cherokee country with the 4.0 straight 6...

having issues with the np231 transfer case:
It has a problem with the 4-Lo... I can shift the lever to the spot, but 4-Lo doesnt engage.the shifter moves where it needs to, but when i put it back in drive i get nothing... cant move at all. when i shift back out it grinds a little through neutrel but does into 4 hi or 2 fine and can move again. 4-high goes in with no problem. all the issues i've seen involving 4-lo talked about grinding or getting stuck.. any ideas on what causes this and/ or how i can fix it (as cheap as possible-im on a tight budget)
Thanks!

Try this cause it might just be the linkage. Roll at like 5mph only not to much faster. Shift into 4hi then shift your tranny to neutral then shift your TC through to 4lo. If you don't regularly use 4lo it gets still. Happened to me before winter. After winter fun it shifts fine

i have a 96 country high output auto and a 99 auto both complete cherokees. im wondering if im going to run into any wiring problems when i put the drive train from the 96 into the 99? they both have power everything and all that. im just curious if i can just swap harness and pcm with the engine and be ok. or if i even need to do that. as for everything else ill be fine. going to be swapping next week. should be fun lol.

Ok, so we replaced our abs system with a dual diaphragm setup and are having problems braking. We replaced all of the components with new besides the mc, booster, proportioning valve, and all of the lines. So, should we start with the master cylinder, or the lines? Maybe the booster? Oh and we have bleed everything! Any ideas?
