Had to replace water pump because it was leaking, suggested I go ahead and replace older water pump.
Jeep was not over heating prior to replacing water pump. Started jeep tested for about 30 minutes with no issues, no leak. Then I started to drive around. Temp gauge jumped through the roof. Indicator said Transmission temp was too high. Do I need to replace the thermostat? or anyone have any suggestions?

Again...

What model year is your Jeep? And did you burp the cooling system when you were done? There could very well be air trapped in the system, which is a sure fire way to overheat

This sure sounds like air in the system. Especially with the WP, feel like air goin to be deep in them pockets and take time to come to the radiator opening

Thanks.

I thought I burped it. But it's possible I did not let it finish.

I don't think the RuffStuff design with the lip onto the floor pan is really necessary. I'd buy the Hooligan stiffeners and pick up a front and rear set to complete the vehicle. HD Offroad Engineering has some http://hdoffroadengineering.myshopify.com/

Excellent. THAT looks like a winning combo. Thanks for the lead!

I'm about to replace the exhaust header on my 4.0. I've heard of a lot of people getting cracks in the header even if it's new because of the engine to body flex. The exhaust is just one big solid peice, so I was thinking about adding a flex pipe after the header in order to help with the flex. I have good motor mounts but I don't want to spend another $150 on a new exhaust header if this one cracks. I looked at other threads but I'm not sure which flex tubing they are talking about. There are 2 different types. Here's a pic of what I was gonna add on mine. How long will a flex pipe like this last? I've heard hat they don't last very one but I've seen several cars with them and they seem to be doing fine? Anybody done this before?

I've actually read of this mod. I forgot what magazine did it. Either 4wd or that jeep builders guide. Me personally feel like it a good idea. Curious to see what others say

Tons of vehicles have those OE, so I can only guess about what kind of problems these folks complaining about short life are talking about

It seems like a no-brainer. You wanna replace a tiny flex pipe or the entire manifold? lol

Upper radiator hose is cold, lower radiator hose is warm. Which way is the waterpump pushing?

Not 100% but I believe the water pump pushes coolant into the engine. Lower hose is out, upper is in.
