I tried one that looks like a pump from soap bottle and that worked well but the one that I got from walmart that looked like a bike pump had too much tubing so it kept falling out of the diff cover and at the end had a lot of oil left in it with no pressure to pump it out.

From the factory, the models with the vacuum CAD will not have had wiring to the transfer case. Instead the switch that turns on the dash light is vacuum-operated - I think it sits on the firewall (maybe).
As for fluid, the soap bottle pumps are garbage. This is what you want.

It's basically a giant syringe.

Hopkins used to make a little screw-on Spill Saver thing, with a little on/off valve, you can put it on and insert it, then pop the valve open and squeeze the bottle. I keep one of those in the engine bay of each car. Looks like they stopped making it.
They have this which looks pretty close, don't need a tube that long

Took a second look and they went back on easy as greased goose going through a garden hose.

But at the end of the day, the syringe barrel works the best and that's what a lot of garages use. Its fast and painless
Do they make huge ones of those? Thinking of slipping hose down my trans dipstick on my E-150 so I don't have to drop the pan since it has no drain plug. Then I can just yank the 6 quarts out by hand, LOLOL

Not like that but there are electric pumps made just for that. Some VW guys use them because they're too lazy to drain the engine oil. They're not cheap, though.
Could you add a drain plug?

There are aftermarket pans with drains, and extra deep ones etc because the E40D comes in trucks up to the 7.3 Diesel and they need more cooling but mine's just the 5.8L gasser. Just rather not deal with anything ha ha. Mainly I don't want to spill any more fluids on to my landlords driveway.
Wonder if I could drain my lady's VW trans with a pump, and get 2 birds stoned at once...
