I do appreciate the concern. Once winter hits i do not drive it as often, but last winter I had no troubles and I was in one of the snowiest cities in the U.S. last year. I've already done numerous small-detail maintenance projects on it with my father as well as the headliner (not something i desire to do again). My jeep has never been, nor will ever be, a mudding/offroading car. From the posts i've seen the cost for the boards haven't been extremely expensive, probably due to the fact that no one really wants them since the majority of cherokees are modded for off-road usage. At the moment, the cost is not something i'm worried about as most estimate them less than 100 or barely over if they want to push the price. Once i see the hardware the assembly won't be much of a problem either whether with my tools here or back home.

 

Yes those are the exact ones i was referring to. I think someone might (MIGHT) have mentioned them to be mopar OEM accessories but looking to mopar has proven fruitless. I've never really posted ads online so I dont have much of a clue as to where I could even post an ad looking for them, much less which dealerships would be of any use in helping me. I thought that especially with narrowing it down to cherokee-style body, the forums here would be my best bet.

 

Well alright! Glad to see you've taken your time and done the routine maintenance. ~100 is a pretty legit price for those, I was thinking it would be way more money's. And if light winter driving is all that's required then AT's or good all seasons are enough, especially for a jeep

 

I was gonna ask about a coolant leak from the radiator cap area of my radiator. I decided it might be a good idea to get a bit more information about exactly where the leak is from before posting.

Turns out my cap was just sitting there, loose and such.

I honestly have no idea, but I'd start with the following:

headlights and cluster lamps are turned on by the same switch.

I would guess a current leak problem existed before the LED headlights were installed but wasn't obvious before.

Check the switch? nondestructive messing around with it may give an idea whether that's the problem.

 

Thank you and yes i've got firestone Destinations on mine. Before I had it, my jeep (whome i've affectionately called Juniper as "she" has the attitude to match it...) had one previous owner and it was well taken care of, i've only put about 10k on the 120k. But from what little projects we have done she was used but rather babied, clean of any major rust... although i should ask one actual technical issue. My father and I have noticed lately that even with new shocks the left rear has been sitting down about a finger's width more than the right rear. We replaced shocks last year and i've checked both leaf springs and found no cracks or true causes for worry. Any ideas?

 

They were OEM. I would recommend posting a wanted ad on every jeep and jeep cherokee site you can find. Starting here at CF, of course. I would also post one on CL under the wanted and/or auto parts. I would include an image so prospective sellers know exactly what it is your looking for. I'm sure someone has them, you'll probably just have to be patient and diligent in your search. I purchased a Banks CAT back system from a fellow forum member. He buggered the intake/output pipes pretty good taking it off his '99 Jeep. I cleaned them up the best I could but in the end took it to a local muffler shop. The tech there cut off all the bad stuff, welled on good pipe and had me rolling in an hour. Yesterday I was under my Jeep and noticed he installed the muffler backward (output toward the engine, intake toward the rear). Now, my question is, since this is muffler is of free flow design does it really matter? Is it worth the trouble to have him redo it correctly? All joints are welded or I'd swap it myself so what does this group think?

 

Guy on a Toyota forum did the same thing so he called Banks:


"talked to Banks tech support. They said it wouldn't make a difference."

 

Does anybody know the stock diameter of the valves? i am looking into getting a comp cams k68-239-8 for my 88 Cherokee. They say i need 3/8 valves for the kit to work.

 

1.91" intake, 1.50" exhaust w/ 8mm stem which is less than 3/8".

 

Okay guys I've owned my 1996 Jeep Cherokee for several years now and the check engine light would turn on then back off occasionally it just so happened that when it would turn off that was when I would get it inspected now I go to get it inspected with the light off to find out that the light should be on(not sure if it's a blown bulb or what)and that I have a p0135 trouble code for bank 1 sensor 1 heater circuit malfunction.

Now when I checked for the one 12 volt source coming out of the harness going to the connector for the o2 sensor I did not receive 12 volts on any of the leads, on my truck the 2 wires for for the heater circuit are light Green w/orange and black w/white

Both of these wires are outputting 0.7 volts, AND when I check the ASD relay this is also the voltage I receive

I checked the dedicated ground from the ECM and it's good, and the sensor outputs correct voltage once up to temp.

Any ideas on where to go from here?
I know this is a common problem, I checked the fuses, all good, swapped the relay, and the heater circuit within the sensor has resistance (6 ohms)

 

If anyone has a schematic of the heater circuit or O2 circuit....really anything would be of tremendous help

 

Probably the old leaf packs. Though cheap "white body" shocks wear out quickly, they won't generally contribute to uneven height side to side. Mine did the same thing back when the OEM leaves where on it. I would highly recommend the OME, Old Man Emu, 1.5" leaves. I know you said stock but the amount of lift gained 1) won't give the jeep too much of a raked angle and 2) won't cause any issues with driveline angles. You can always jack the jeep up 1.5" over stock height and see what it would look like. They are a really high quality component and will last the life of the jeep. OEM spec replacements will not last nearly as long.. The way I measure is from top of axle tube to bottom of frame rail. Stock, the front should be 6.75"+/-.05" and rear should be 6.00"+/-.05".

 

I don't know if the OME 1.5" springs are available anymore. I recently came across these.
