Default New in here, need help with my Jeep

Hi i own a 1997 Jeep Cherokee and yesterday i was driving home and accidentally shifted from d to r, the check engine and battery lights came on and the car stalled i turned it on again and drove fine, today drove fine as well, Do you think the car will be ok? And my other question is where is the transmission fluid deposit located to top it off? Thanks in advance.

How fast were you going? 5 or 65?

It sounds as if your Jeep did exactly what it was supposed to do in that event... Automakers have been engineering safeguards like that into vehicles for some time.

Probably fine. That trans is quite robust.

Check the fluid level and condition.

How long have you owned this Jeep?

Definitely sounds similar to Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS) going out. Intermittent stalling and also cranking and cranking without starting are the usual symptoms. google it

Default Trunk inner Dimensions

hello,

I'm looking into owning a 1999 XJ, and am curious what the inner dimensions of the cargo is. My job requires me to carry 4' x 4' flat objects. Would a 4'x4' say piece of plywood fit into the back? Could it lay flat or would it have to be angled?

Thanks!

Drove to work this morning and realized halfway there that my passenger front brake was smoking. Drove home very carefully. Replaced calipers, pads, and rotors tonight only to have the front passenger wheel lock up. Made sure to grease the slide pins and clean all surfaces with brake clean. Bled the brakes. Thought the back plate was rubbing, bent that back and nothing changed. All parts are from Advance Auto.

Any help?

Collapsed soft brake line. If they're stock, replace them. I spent hundreds chasing the same symptoms in the Camaro

I did the exact same thing when I first bought mine. I was slowing down to make a right and I *thought* I was bumping into neutral (can't remember why now) and ended up kicking it into reverse at about 35 - mine did the same thing *sans lights* and locked up the tires causing me to skid. Turned it back on, drove away and haven't had a single problem since - that was 4 years ago. The AW4 is a very sturdy transmission. It will stand up to quite a bit of abuse.

Well.... this was what the measurements were when I was cutting a rug for the rear of mine.

38.5 (L) x 45 (W) was what I measured for the squared-off part

This is without the seat folded down... so I'd venture to say you'd be a little shy on the wheelwells, but if you fold the seat down, you'd have plenty of room length-wise - would probably have to angle it as you suggested. A grand cherokee might be a better option for you - although I'm not sure because the ZJ (1993-1998 Grand Cherokee) has the same axle width and therefore probably has the same wheel-well width. The WJ (2000-2004 Grand Cherokee) is a little wider so it might have the true 48" of clearance for you.
