LDP was a California thing IIRC. That port's plugged on most/all XJs. I can't remember if it was WJs or TJs that make use of it.. Or maybe the LDP lol

Considering trimming my fenders when I install my lift. 3.5" on a 99. Was looking at a 96 part out and got to thinking. Has anyone ever used the fender flares from a 96-earlier on a 97-later? After trimming of course. Thoughts?

You can use the earlier body style fenders on a 97+, but your header panel won't align with them properly.

Yeah sorry I meant the stock flares. Edited original post.

The flares are completely different in shape, style, and how they mount onto the jeep. I suppose you could make them work if you trimmed them to fit and figured out a way to mount them.

I figured they'd be different but I like the "jut" of them. I wonder if a heat gun to reshape plus an innovative mount/cut would look hinky.

When the doors are closed on my truck, I can see a small gap between the top of the doors and the door weather stripping.

I'm thinking about changing the weather stripping on the door cavity. Do I have to pull all the interior plastic trim to change that weather stripping?

I briefly considered trying to slightly bend the upper door frame to close the gap, but that looks like it would be a big PITA to bend, and would probably not help my slow window issues.

Talk about nit picking........

There's a good chance your door hinges are sagging. It isn't uncommon

Nope - try the Grand Cherokee section. We're talking about vehicles that were released in 1984 in here

Nope, If anything, they're a tad higher than they should be. I already fixed the sagging door problem some time ago.

I also checked to see if the door was out of alignment with the fender and the body. Both are right on the money.

Thanks for the suggestion, in any case.

Gotcha. Sorry, but I don't have experience with weather stripping on these

Anywhere a fellow can get new door weather stripping? I need new stuff for the bottom of the window as well as the bit that sits behind the door.

You don't have to remove all the trim but you might have to pull the step plate at bottom. If you go to a junkyard for the weatherstripping, pull it from a ZJ instead--its thicker and still fits.

You can adjust the door angle with shims but you have to pull the door hinge to get them, a bit of work
