Hey quick question, I got my driveshaft balanced because of this, but i would like to fix it regardless, at high speed (75 mph) and low load, but not no load, the front driveshaft spins and causes vibrations that are both bad and annoying. I fixed my vacuum engagement on the axle and the diverter switch on the t case, but even balanced and properly disengaged it still vibrates, removing the shaft eliminates the issue, but obviously I'd rather not do that. Any ideas?

Renix Vacuum Harnesses-Tip 22

The vacuum harness that attaches to the front of the valve cover and includes the grommet/fitting, and is called the front harness, is Napa part number BK 715-1367 or is a Dorman 46003.

The vacuum harness that is closest to the air cleaner, EGR etc, and is called the rear harness, is Napa part number BK 715-1366 or is a Dorman 46004.

The tube from the rear of the valve cover to the intake manifold is part number BK 715-1365 or Dorman 46005 and comes with the valve cover grommet.

Thanks cruiser, I've never been asked for these, but I think I'm gonna start a notebook for posterity at work. We've got a lot of jeepers that come in, always good to know more part availability.

I don't know the years offhand, but you want 784 injectors

Maybe? It's not lifted much at all, maybe 3" up from saggy stock, the pinion gear wouldn't be affected by vacuum or load I wouldn't think, plus the front shaft ought not be turning it

Thanks. Easier to hit up the right car inventory numbers at the junkyard if I got the right years.
Also trying to source the rebuild kits for 784s. Doesn't look like programbo is providing them anymore so I gotta do for me. Maybe others if possible. Ultrasound cleaning of course.

anyone have any suggestions for something to spray through a vacuum hose to clean it? Specifically the elbow for the MAP sensor; I know brake/carb cleaner dries the rubber out.

We are getting the tow package, which means we have a place to tie in the back. Can I have tow hooks installed in the front on this model? I know that option is standard on the Trailhawk. The dealers can't seem to answer my question...

I would be fine just finding a spot under the vehicle like I normally do, but the under carriage is all covered.

Any ideas?

Much Appreciated.

I hate to say it, but the new Cherokees are more closely related to Subaru foresters than the older Cherokees (1984-2001), which this site is pretty much devoted to. The older Cherokees sit on a frame that is closer to a truck frame. The new ones are (supposedly {as in I've not encountered anyone who's played with one}) very well built crossovers. The drive train is completely different. Basically they brought back the Cherokee name because they wanted to tap into the cult following the older Cherokees has gathered.

In answer to your question, since one model has the capability for tow hooks, you should be able to put tow hooks on the front of any model, but as to how and by whom, I dunno. As a general rule, they put different trim and features on the same frame. There should still be a place to mount the hooks regardless of the trim. From the looks of a quick google search, it seems that there are two square pieces of trim that pop out and the hooks slide in. That's just appearances though. Worst case scenario you'd have to wait for the aftermarket world to catch up to demand and put them on yourself.

Realistically, if the dealership can't answer your questions, perhaps it's time to shop around and find a dealership that does know their product. This seems like a pretty basic question. Possibly ask to talk to one of their technicians, if it's a dealer installed feature, the people that do the work should have some clue as to what is or is not possible (and allowed).

One last thing, the plastic under the front end should pop off fairly easily. It's possible you could pop it off and find your tie down spot, then cut a hole where you need access. Much as we want that stuff to be pointless, it does keep grime out of the engine compartment. I wouldn't recommend just tearing it out. Just cut out a chunk where you need it not to be.

If you do end up getting a new style Cherokee, let us know if it's up to snuff, I for one am curious how they measure up.

Not bad searching for a new vehicle. Check out the KL section of this forum. Theres more cherokee owners there. We accept new cherokee owners with open arms. Ignore anyone on here that tries to bash a vehicle cause they cant grow up or whatever, good luck with finding your answer.
