Hey guys, I got a Jeep Cherokee sport and it has those plastic panels on the side. You know the ones that always fade out and start to pop off? Is it a good idea to just take them off permanently? Or keep them on? They are starting to get kind of annoying and just wanna to know if I can just toss them.

Well, it seems that it could be partially correct. Just found this:

"Some sources state that the output shaft spline change occurred for the 1990 model year. The change most likely occurred during the 1990 model run with early 1990 models receiving 21-spline transmission and later models receiving 23-spline."

Just one more thing to confuse us.

Thanks , it would be nice to see what it looks like before hand. I understand that the panels help stop other car doors from hitting yours, but mine already has a few dents in it. From where I dunno.

So I have found this popping noise under my XJ... I don't know what the rod it called but was curious if it is easy to fix. Here's a pic.

Thats your track bar. The top connection is either loose ( easy fix, just tighten) or it's blown. Get a after market track bar, install and your on your way.
