???? They are exactly the same transmission. Why would you now need a new TC too? I'm confused...

I went to the blessing of the Jeeps this past weekend in Mesick, MI. On the ride home (highway) my jeep started the dreaded "death wobble". I had to drive the rest of the way home on secondary roads as the speeds on those roads were lower and my jeep didn't wobble at lower speeds.

Once I got home and was able to check out the jeep I noticed that my control arm bushings are pretty much shot. They seem to be the original bushing's. I know I have to replace them but I was planning on getting adjustable control arm's as the ones I have are the original and I have a 4.5 lift now.

My question is, the cost is a bit prohibitive to get all new at once. If I was to choose between the upper or lower which should I get? My axle needs to be kicked forward some and I was just wondering whether the upper or lower were the most important?
Lower CAs are most important. Just get adjustable LCAs while you are at it - they'll come with the bushings and will be about the same price, and you won't have to worry about pressing the old bushings out / new bushings in

As long as it has the same engine, yes. Year also matters a bit, but not as much

I bought a '90 XJ just for the 3" lift... the price was low enough that if I pull the motor and tranny I can scrap it and get my money back

The 2.5" exhaust with 2chamber flowmaster was a bonus.

The motor is 4.0 with 175,000k on it and sounds and runs great
The tranny has no 4WD or reverse but it is a select-trac... is it worth fixing to replace the command trac in my '88 XJ?

personally i would scrap/sell the select-trac. Command trac is more useful IMO, unless you really have a desire for the 4x4 full time option.

Everything I have points to a 1990+ (including 1990) AW4 having a 23-spline output. Thus it should work if the tranny actually came out of a 1990 XJ. Is the info incorrect?

Just curious... Why do you say it's more useful? The select trac does everything the command trac does.

IMHO I prefer the strength of my part time 4wd. When all 4 wheels lock in it'll get you anywhere and everywhere. Now full time is useful however I've seen the select trac perform less since the tires can spin at different speeds. Then again this is IMHO cause ppl will swear by both
