XJ Ask the Question Thread
sound like you fan is the culprit. It isn't supposed to spin freely.

Hey guys question. On my 01, anyone know the size bolts that connect the downpipe to the cat and from the cat to the muffler. Rather have them on hand just in case. Can't imaging driving around with no down exhaust
Temp is Fixed
Ended up being simple. The Stat I put in was one from fail safe and it safely failed instantly and stuck open. Put a new one in and now it heats up perfectly and stays right where it should. As far as the fan clutch, everything seems fine to me right now, I have read in a few places that they should spin as long as its not free spinning, but I will keep my eye on it.
Thanks again for all the info and help. I am now addicted to this forum
My jeep starts up and runs and drives fine for about an hour then sputters and dies causing me to clear the codes and then it runs for 20 minutes and does the same thing it sounds like it loses timing and cant get fuel and shuts off any help would be greatly appreciated it also has a new crank position sensor could it be the cam sensor ?

Replacing sensors randomly is a great way to change your hair to grey and wallet to empty.

I tried burping it a few times, removed the brand new radiator and checked it, no cap/covers on the inlet/outlet. I ran water threw t and it looked good. I pulled the thermostat out and it never got over 140, the recently replaced rock auto thermostat looked ok, I went ahead and bought a failsafe expensive autozone special and put it in, burped it again and finally its working! I get to 212 quickly and it drops to 208, slowly climbs back to 212 then eventually settles at 210, I wot 4th gear up a 10% grade doing 50mph steady with no over heating like it was doing before. The radiator was a metal single core, oem. I was so happy I went on a 3 hour test drive, not a single problem. It sure does feel good knowing I can take my xj places! The entire coolant system minus the heater core is now new, the heater is also working better than ever as well!

Hello everyone!! Newbie here. I am sure you have had this question posed a million times, but I'm having difficulties finding info on my exact situation. Recently bought a 1989 Cherokee Laredo and as expected, it has a few issues here and there. The newest one that is blowing my mind is with the heat and a/c.
When I bought it, the heat and a/c worked but only through the defrost vent up top. I went searching for broken vacuum lines, but found nothing. Didn't sweat it, but now nothing is working at all. I turn on the heat or a/c and I get no air, no noise, no nothing. Completely dead! I did just change out the blower fuse and still nothing. Any advice???

We speak Renix Jeep here.
Anything else not working besides the blower? Turn signals or wipers?
