Planning on replacing the fuel pump assembly. Sending unit is definitely bad, so I need the complete assembly vs just the pump. Pump is likely going bad too, long crank starts.

Carter is $182.79 (RockAuto)
Airtex is $76.45 (Amazon)
Spectra Premium is $85.79 (appears to be identical to Airtex)

Now from research I know the Airtex pump is not worth buying, but what about the sending unit? I could buy the whole assembly AND a Bosch or Carter pump and save about $60+ vs just buying the whole Carter assembly. I hate to drop almost 2 bills on a complete assembly if I don't need to.

 

Anybody know if the proportioning valve is the same from abs to non abs? All the pics I have looked at, they seem to be the same, just the "plug" at the back side of the valve is remove and fitted with fittings and lines... I read a few threads over on jeepforum that gave different answers...stating there is different part numbers and such. Basically I'm looking to delete my ABS, the pump got air in it as the jeep sat for 8 months with leaking/crack lines, then got driven and lost brakes...I went through replaced all Hardlines, softlines, wheel cylinders, calipers and master cylinder, as I am trying to get it ready for a big trip...THIS weekend....still spongy/no brake pressure leading me to believe the abs pump has air in it...

Need this thing rolling and STOPPING by Friday. I Am completely opt to pulling all nighters the rest of the week if need be.

So the vibes were the front driveshaft, no one answered so I figured I ought to. I hear a weird whirring in second gear as I rev to go to third. The transfer case is obviously engaging my front shaft in a load variable situation, it was low on fluid, most of a quart. Filling it up didn't improve one iota. Any ideas how damaged my internals could be?

 

Does anybody know where else I can get the D ring recovery mounts for a stock front bumper? Guys sells them on here but I can't convince myself they are worth $130.

 

Nowhere cheaper than that. Just make them. There's nothing to it.

I really like the look of it for some reason. I do work in a metal factory with engineers who can draw stuff up for me and send it to one of our two lasers.....

They are mounted to the frame.

I have them. In hindsight, after buying them, having my mechanic put the driver side one on (didn't want to mess with the steering box bolts), and paying for paint, I would've rather bought a whole bumper.

I have an 87 renix with a newer(95+ i think) filter housing adapter, plus i use a different filter than normal. I changed my filter thread pitch to a more common size where i can get larger filters. Its just very tight around the area. The issue is just you have to snake the filter up in there from the bottom and you can sorta tighten it from the top. Ill take a good pic in a lil while to show ya. That tool would be useless for me. Thanks anyways though.

 

No problem. I know on my 88' the vertical style adapter gives me plenty of room, don't know if you could just put the original back on, don't see any size/space issues
