Same thing happened to me today. My code reader said "coolant sensor above maximum"? Is that for the overflow reservoir??

I have a 1999 jeep cherokee classic that has made a knocking sound since I bought it. Noticeable to just about anyone in two-wheel drive And even louder in four-wheel. My mechanic inspected the front diff. and found that a gear is missing a tooth. This expains why its louder in 4 and 4 low. Then he told me what he was going to charge me to fix it.$700.00 seemed like a lot for one little gear. I am not super mechanical but can figure things out with a little help. So just how hard a fix is this? And what parts would I need excactly? Is this a fix that a guy could do with basic tools and common sense? Or should I bite the big one and have him fix it? Also advise on tutorals would be nice as well, provided this is not an extremely hard fix. Thanks for any advice, hopefully yall can help. Thanks!!

So I'm installing my new transfercase tomorrow. I haven't dropped my old one yet and was wondering if theres a seal between the t case and trans? I'm buying the rear output shaft seal for the t case and would get the one inbetween the two as well if there is one. Thanks

Well I was finally able to get around to doing a good search and found some VERY useful info. Here are the links I am going to be reffering to for all my CB installation questions.

If it's the pinion gear, the whole carrier has to be removed, and that requires gear work, something you don't want to get into without experience.
