Volvo cap was nice and tight. I'm letting the heep cool right now then I'm going to loosen the temp sender on the back of the head and see if any air comes out.
I have seen your post cruiser but that honestly has not helped. Wen it was cold a few hours ago I topped the tank and left the cap off and ran it a while then replaced the cap. Ran it longer and all seemed ok. Went for a drive then sat in a parking lot for about 10 minutes and it started climbing. Drive and it cools slowly.
Cooling fan only comes on when you have the dash set to bi-level. The rest of the time the relay never clicks on and the electric fan never runs. Which has been fine since I got the jeep until I swapped caps that day.

You guys are a hoot!!
OP, try bleeding it but I'm betting there is an underlying issue somewhere else.
The Volvo cap is a "must have" regardless.

Newer radiator, newer water pump. Fan clutch I couldn't tell you how old.
How can I test the electrics for the cooling fan. It does work but only when the a/c is on so is there a sending unit for th electric fan?

Yes. In the radiator on the driver's side lower. But, how cold is it outside? Mine only ever comes on in 90* plus conditions.
