hey I'm installing one of the aftermarket wiring harnesses for the headlights on my Cherokee and the plug that goes into the old harness is on the passenger side instead of the drivers side will this affect anything in the operation of it?

Unhappy I need some opinions please

Hello all, first time post here. I'm having issues with my 2000 jeep cherokee 6 cylinder. I've been told it may be an issue with the mass air flow sensor.

When I start my jeep the engine shuts off unless I give it gas. It drives but when I pull up to a red light or stop sign I need to put it in neutral and give it gas or it shuts down. No engine lights on and it dosnt have a problem while I'm driving on the highway.....

Help! Lol

Pull the Idle Air Control valve and clean it.

Your Jeep doesn't have a Mass Airflow Sensor.

Lol, when I was doing my tune-up, I was thinking I needed new terminals. So hard to get these off because I could hardly get anything on the nut.

That's how all of them work. No impact in function unless you have some issue with your P/S headlights like the wiring is broken. Pack the driver's side harness with dielectric grease, wrap it with electrical tape, and tuck it away somewhere.

Ain't no MAF on these things. However there are two devices that work together to control the amount of air into the engine at idle called the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and Idle Air Controller (IAC). Do some searching on here (actually, use Google and add "site:cherokeeforum.com", the in-site search is garbage) and you'll find tons of information on how to test, diagnose, and clean your IAC and TPS.

You try penetrating oil and some love taps with hammer yet? Knock the back of them so they spin around. Giant channel-locks come in handy too.

It's not that they won't come off, it's that was having trouble getting anything around the nut because the terminal (behind the nut) comes out a good bit. It's definitely do-able. I only had a crescent wrench and screwdriver with me, haha. The PO put some wires on to help out the grounds I'm guessing, as well.

Well that whole kit and kaboodle is made of lead, **** with it enough and you're going to need to replace the clamps AND the posts.

They were already like that before I got to it sadly. Aren't the posts part of the battery itself?

First off, what are your reasons for wanting an upgrade? The stock setup is very effective when the parts work, but it does need maintenance after so many years.
