Yes i know why they're in there.
Worked a mint, too. Passenger's side with the flimsy steel bracket was really easy, driver's side was not very much fun until I got it started properly. There are only so many times a guy can drop a greased up frozen hunk of metal on a gravel driveway before he goes postal lol.

Why frozen? Never heard of that "trick"

Shrinks the bushing so it slides in better.

How do I fix the loose slop in my steering. I have about 1-2" of movement in the wheel before it actually moves the jeep

Replace the component that's loose lol

Get a helper in the cab to shake the wheel while you watch everything under the hood and under the front end for slop. The steering box has an adjustment too, but don't just go tightening stuff randomly.

Its loose play like I can move the steering wheel left and right and the tires won't move.
