Hey there,
I've just installed my mean green alternator and noticed that the body of the alt touches the inner bracket. Can anyone tell me if this will be an issue? The only thing I can think of is heat transfer. I just put everything back together and if I don't need to then that would be great! Thoughts?

Just changed my front brakes yesterday. Got a question. Do anyone has else have the problem of after they changed there brakes, you go out on a test drive, and when you hit the brakes it pulls to the left, like it will bring you into the other lane, if you press them to hard. How could I fix this?

Sounds like you might have some air in the lines. Try bleeding your brakes.

Can I use 75w-90 instead of 80w-90? There shouldn't be that much of a difference.

80w90 is conventional, 75w90 is synthetic. 75w90 synthetic is less resistant to flow when it's cold and more stable when hot. Synthetic gear oil in your diffs is ideal unless you take your axles swimming a lot.

So should I get synthetic 75w-90 since I don't go into water? I don't think the fluid has ever been changed before. Is Mobil1 75w-90 a good gear oil or should I go for a heavier weight like 75w-140

75w140 is recommended if you beat on your diffs, 75w90 for regular use. The owners manual calls for 75w140 when "used offroad or towing". I wouldn't bother with the heavier weight for a light trail rig/weekend warrior but if you actually drive it and have a locker definitely go for it.

You can do synthetic and ford water if you want, it just gets really expensive changing that oil all the time.

An overall decline in pressure over time is also a good indicator of coolant destroying bearings (as a result of a cracked head)

In the mean time I'd crawl underneath with a flash light and start looking for pinhole leaks. It helps to get everything clean first.
Thanks. Here is a little update. I went back to the shop. Had them do another coolant pressure check and they said everything is good, and they couldn't see any leaks so they believe either there could be some left over air bubbles or I am actually burning coolant. They were nice enough to also do a free oil pressure check since my pressure has been a bit low. They did confirm that it's not as it should be and it is a little low.

At this point if I have to do rebuild the head and do the head gasket, what are my best options? Have a shop do it or just sell the jeep? What is an average cost?

I can't tell you about average cost, but if you have the tools, I'd do it yourself. Imho, the worst thing you can do is sell the jeep. After all, if you figure you trade it in on another vehicle and have to pony up two or three grand extra on top of your trade in value.. A lot can be fixed for 2-3 k. And, since you'd (probably) be buying used, you probably won't get any kind of a warranty, and so if something goes wrong with the new car in a week, you're back where you started, and you've lost another 3 k. Fix it, and know that you won't have to worry about it again for years to come.

Right side caliper is likely stuck and not working.

It's possible your caliper is sticking, or the right side has air in it and is just compressing that instead of working the caliper. Do the brakes drag when you release the pedal too?

What does "oil pressure not as it should be" mean? There are a lot of factors that can affect oil pressure, and a lot of different interpretations of it. An instant snapshot is almost meaningless. Data over time is important to determine if coolant is destroying your bearings.

Default Chip in key

Wow this thread does move fast. Thanks for the relply Salad. Yes my key looks like that. I have installed aftermarket remote starts on previous vehicles i have had that require a key to be placed in a "lock" box in order for the remote start to work due to the key chip. That was why I thought it may have an aftermarket remote start. Without something like this do you have any idea why the vehicle would start with the key over 20 feet away?
Thanks
Eric

Your fan doesn't work on any of the four settings, correct? Speeds 1-3 go through a resistor pack that breaks every so often.

It's only working on 4. An I've developed a new problem, every time I hit the gas my oil gauge is dropping to almost nothing
