Instead of hacking open a distributor cap to check timing you probably just RMA half the ****ing fuel system.

I really hope I don't ever have to work on the new grand cherokee, probably will eventually. Heck we had a meeting at school and one of the service advisors kept calling it a Cherokee and talking about how great it is.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize this was a competition. I didn't see his reply anyway
If you want to be like that, it's not technically a "degree shim". It tilts the powertrain, but it's a flat shim. Or a pile of giant washers.

Perhaps some of the more enlightened ones here could educate a fellow 4 wheeler. My 01 xj has developed the rather irritating habit of intermittently refusing to allow the ignition switch to rotate with the key. I removed the switch cleaned and lubed it and now it is somewhat better. A few jiggles and it will release if it happens to perform its new trick. I will be obtaining a new switch in due time. I have a suspicion that the vehicle has a remote start system. I say this due to the fact that when I had the switch out I tried the ignition with the switch out just to be sure that I could screwdriver start it if the switch refused to cooperate. The thing started right up. I moved the key about 25 or 30 ft away and tried it. Started right up. If the key has a chip (the test box at wally world indicated it does) then the vehicle should not start without receiving a signal from the chip in the key. UNLESS there is a key in a holder box of a remote start system. I have yet to locate one but is my thinking off base? Is 25ft close enough for the computer to get its signal? I ask this because I might be able to save the programming cost of coding new keys to the computer. I have only one key. I cant ask the previous owner as the person is deceased. Thoughts on this? Thanks
Eric

a NewKindOfCookie lol
lol Apparently I failed at sarcasm. You're right though. We say "sorry" and "please" in public, but all that bottled up rage has gotta end up somewhere...
Your key looks like this, yes?

As far as I remember the Sentry Key system reads the chip through a nearfield method like NFC or RFID, the range is just a few inches, and the module is installed right in the steering column.

I've not heard of a factory remote start feature.
