I was in 2wd while entering a water hole. I got stuck at the end (differential in the mud) so I put it in 4hi to try and go in reverse, and that's when a loud knock happened, and right after some grinding. After I let it settle a couple seconds, I tried again and was able to go back and then get out of the hole in 4hi.

After reading on here, I was switching from 2wd to 4hi while going forward, no problem there. I didn't shift into 4lo at all yesterday, hence why I'm a little worried since it has never done that before.

Either way, I'm sure it's fine now.

Yeah I figured, if it happens again I'll have to check, those noises are really not nice to hear.
Thanks for all your replies!

Nope, but like someone stated right after you, maybe the tires were still spinning in the back, I can't remember though.
You know, for the sake of it haha. If it wasnt for the differential in the mud, I would've had no problem getting out. Even in 4wd I would've been stuck.

I think that the most plausible answer because like I stated above, I'm sure I wasn't giving it gas while switching.
Thanks for all your replies!
