XJ Ask the Question Thread
Thanks for the tip on the Free Fix! I adjusted it and it drove a lot better, only slipped once right when I started off and rode good from then on. Should I try and push it out another click or will it adjust itself? And is the problem I was having a pretty common symptom of an un-adjusted cable?
And I guess while I'm at it I'll post the two other little issues I'm having with the Jeep: There is a "squeaking" sound coming from what seems to be the area right where the injector is for the furthest back cylinder, or maybe from the TB area. Any ideas on what that could be? And also my a/c blower only blows hard on #4, when it is on 1 2 or 3 the air barely leaks out.
And thank you all, this forum is great and you all are a ton of help!

Second issue is the blower resistor. Not sure on how to fix it but someone else can def know. As for the tranny issue. Drive her a lil and see how she feels. Don't over adjust it.

Problem: How do I remove this (blue collared ) sensor in this photo ( speed sensor)?
It twists and I have tried pulling it out but does not move. Should I put a screwdriver under it to pry it loose?
Thanks ahead of time.

sooo. long winded post incoming.
this question is pertaining to my '96 cherokee sport with the 4.0, it also has power locks, mirrors, and windows.
the other day it rained and my power door locks stopped working. the rain dried up and they started working again, then stopped again tthe next day without it raining again first. at about the same time i removed the center console in anticipation of pulling my T case shifter (so i unplugged my power mirror switch in the process) the day after i did this it sounded like it had a hard time cranking and took a few cranks to start. now today (2 days later) i go out and have absolutely no power to anything. no clicks, no crank, nothing. when i connected cables to jump the jeep i noticed that my temp gauge tripped to max when i had power to the battery (but still wouldnt crank or anything), then dropped back down to 200ish when the power was disconnected. then after a minute of trying to start i went back under the hood and realized that my jumper cables were melting slightly, so i disconnected them. i'm not sure where to go from here. should i charge the battery with a charger and try then or go a different route?

Was driving along when all of a sudden I noticed a Check gauges light on, and look at my battery gauge(is that correct terminology?)and its pegged at 19V! the jeep still runs fines, just light and gauges are on.
Yesterday I upgraded my headlights and did the 12v harness. Which off-topics, is Very very worth it!

What causes (ABS) light to come on?
Airbag is on because Po bumped a tree and its no longer in the vehicle..

i think i have an issue with my oil pressure. when my jeep idles at cold its at 40-50. once it warms up and im stopped at a light or coasting it will drop to 20. then as i accelerate the gauge will go back up to 50. is this normal or do i have an issue. im running 10w-30 with a wix filter. i have 79k on a 2000 xj with the 4.0.

Normal oil pressure is 10+ at warm idle and 30+ at driving speeds.
