Did you take any pics? If not no problem. I want to rig my plastic splash shields up but I no longer have flares. I want to put the stock flares back on but the brackets have a few broke bolts. I went to tap the bolts out but by the time the bolt/stud was out the brackets were severely tweaked. Might just make the lawn edging flares and use the bolts that hold them on to help secure the splash shields. As far as the seam, Im just going to make relief cuts then hammer it down.

I'd guess you'll lose mileage on the highway, but improve in city. I may be completely wrong about that, though. I don't think about my mileage; I just make sure there's enough money in my account to keep her from getting thirsty.

I have no idea.
Other than it seems easier to get the Georgia red clay out of the well spaces with them on. I have been in the process of swopping items from that XJ to another one. I have not decided on keeping them on or not.

Most people yank them cause they don't fit right with trimmed fenders (unless you modify the liner), and a common fix is to shove a pool noodle in the fender. Nothing wrong with keeping it. I was just wondering.

I'd say it would improve mpg everywhere, and would make the automatic trans last a lot longer.
