Hey, this is my first post: I need some help:
I just bought my first jeep 1995 cherokee, 4.0L, auto, AC
The wiring harness, fuse box and cruise control were destroyed by fire. I went ahead and pulled everything off. I even had to remove the lower dash panel to get at the harness through the firewall.
So here is my question:::????
WHERE CAN I FIND A NEW ENGINE WIRING HARNESS??
- I already checked every junkyard in san diego and nobody has a 95 cherokee. I also checked eBay. Then google!! NOTHING....
Any ideas???

So ive had my jeep for about two years now. And well I have that vacuum canister in my bumper but it's not hooked up to anything. The hose go in thru the engine bay but looks cut. I don't have A/c previous owner cut all the lines and removed the electrical components for it. My jeep runs good. But does it need that canister hooked up? And where does it hook into?

I got stuck in some ice again today and when i shifted to 4 lo and let of the brake i heard a grinding noise that only got louder as i pressed the gas pedal down. my tires wouldnt spin at all when i pressed the gas.
could it be a bad transfer case or could it be a cracked vacuum hose?

Sorry i missed that one.
So you have the slip on the shaft like in the front.
You may have to shorten it a bit, but it is not said. Check the 8.8 pinion lengh and compare it with the D35 pinion length in order to know how much it will be longer and how much the DS is going to be shorter and wether this might be absorbed by the slip or not.
Measure from the DS U-joint to the axle tube.

If you're hearing a grinding noise, but it's not engaging to turn the wheels, then it could be just that your linkage needs to be adjusted. I don't know where you're from, but if you have as much snow as we do around Chicago, then it could easily have packed itself somewhere that could limit the shift linkage's travel. But, if you're parked and still can't get it to engage in 4L when it's not in snow, it may be the case itself. When mine went, I lost 2wd and 4H. But, was able to limp, in second gear, in 4L to my local Aamco. Nice guys, out here in Aurora, but it still cost me about $540 for the case and $300 for them to install. I know a place where you can get a salvaged case shipped from, for about $250. But, you'd need a dock to receive it, someone to install it, and they carry no warranty if not installed professionally.
By the way, all this is on a 2000 Cherokee Sport
Transfer Case: NP231 (No full-time 4wd) If you have a "full-time" setting(and a newer than late '80s Cherokee), then you have an NP242
Hope some of that is helpful..

It means you are having charging system problems - most likely your alternator is going bad. Go to your local auto parts store and get the computer read for DTC codes, and also get the battery/charging system load tested.
The solution could be as simple as installing new battery terminals, or as involved as changing the alternator.
