XJ Ask the Question Thread
i bought my first xj recently and have serviced it and such already and decided to test out the 4x4 and such, i was shifting through my aw4 gears and found that i can shift into all gears but the "1-2" range, i removed the bezel to see if something was stuck just to find that there is a metal retainer that the shifter moves through, and ends before "1-2" is reached, anybody know why this may be? and maybe i need to make an adjustment of sort? any help greatly appreciated, pm welcome too, thanks guys

Put different springs on the MJ? Putting coils in place of the MJ's rear leafs will involve adding some kind of multi-link design, (like that used in the ZJ), to replace the leafs. Quite an undertaking. An easier/cheaper alternative would be to use airbags IMO.
Replace the D35 w/a D60? Besides a different shaft, you'll probably need to use a hybrid rear u-joint to connect the D60's yoke to the driveshaft's different sized cups. JMO
Most people suggest an SYE at lifts above 3-1/2", regardless of the rear axle you use. It helps with the steep angles the shaft's u-joints encounter.
I've read that some people using that amount of lift use either a front shaft, or a custom one from Tom Woods Custom drive shafts Inc. http://www.tomwoodscustomdriveshafts.com/aboutus.html

Is there a how-to kicking around, or a diagram for doing this? The OP for my XJ wired the electric fan, and "used to be fogs", to a toggle on the dash, which is connected to the battery. I'd like to know if I could get these wired to something which only works when the key is on. Any help?

Yes u can do that but once its cut if u go to low ur screwed. Plus u no longer have a flat coil to fit in the lower bucket for the coil strap. Its not completely safe on a jeep no. I also want a higher spring rate.
