I have a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. Has 2 problems. Difficult to re-start when hot outside. Turn the key and get nothing. Will re-start after several minutes. Second. Sometimes will not re-start, but if I let it roll several feet, stop, put in park, it will then start right up. First problem: possibly wiring? My battery cables are shot. Second problem: could it be the starter has a dead spot? Thank you for the help
take a look an see if ya notice any extra gunk or oil on it first, clean it up.
freshen up your connections, but only after pulling your negative lead from the battery.
cheap easy check, beats throwing money at a new starter if its just a bad contact

Can anyone tell me at what degree I should have my crank angle sensor at? I git a 2000 I6 Cherokee I'm pretty sure this is the problem (hard to start/keep running in the cold)
Pics would be greatly appreciated as I know the term is degree, but have no way/knowledge of measuring the degree

your starter is experiencing "heat soak"

I got an 89 XJ with the 4.0 in it and it seems to be having some transmission issues...
It started out early last summer but it seems like when I accelarate to about 30 or 40MPH the truck starts to shake pretty hard back and forth... Its almost like driving with a rookie in a manual. Funny thing is though this is a automatic... I checked the trans fluid and it seemed fine. Somebody mentioned on here to check the TPS... Any other ideas?
Additional info:
Its got about 204K on it
In the winter time or when its cool outside it doesnt act up...
I appericate the help!

Have a couple stock coil spring compatibility ?s
1. Are front and rear zj springs interchangeable
2. If so does that mean rear zj springs are interchangeable with front xj/mj springs
3. I heard rear zj springs are around 3"s shorter than xj/mj springs (confirm deny?)
4. Does anyone know the rear zj spring rate?

XJ- 120 front/160 rear (SOA-config rear spring length x width is 51.63x2.50)
MJ- 140 front/230 rear (SUA-config rear spring length x width is 57x2.50)
ZJ- 200 front/160 rear
No, you'll need a shorter driveshaft.
Hello all! I posted here some time ago and was very happy with all the help, so I approach the forum again: (1996 Cherokee XJ I6 4.0 Auto 4 speed)
Occasionally (maybe once or twice a week) upon start-up my jeep vibrates violently, visibly, and putting it in gear it moves very jerkily, but steadily, and it goes away after getting up to a speed (roughly 35mph) and settles. It's accompanied by a slight chirp on top of a slight chaffing sound as well intermittent combustion that sounds like it's just out of time.
Did a little bit of research and about to go out with my father-in-law to check the fly-wheel and probably check vacuum hoses.
UPDATE: Tightened two bolts (that weren't loose, but not tight) on the flywheel (there were 4, in a square formation) two on one side weren't completely tight.
Giving it a while as a test run to see if it removes that problem.

What trans would an 88 Cherokee pioneer have? Its a five speed. Its on Craigslist for $500 no motor or wheels/tires and I'm thinking of picking it up instead of fixing the wreckage on my 91. Here's a link...
http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/pts/2926553066.html
Edit: is it a puegot because that's the one I'm trying to avoid for parts compatibility from my 91. I want that 5 speed though.
Edit:
For reference if its a 4.0 its a puegot any other motor is ax5
