XJ Ask the Question Thread
Here is a good one for you guys.........89 cherokee. It seems while I'm trying to put this thing back together the mice in the neighborhood needed to build a new house and did so in my heater box !! I had it running today trying to figure out the electric fan when it began to smoke out the cowl under the wind shield wipers. Not a burning wire smell but a dried weed smell. I had to stick the garden hose in the cowl to get it to quit smoking ! Anyway my question is if I take the blower motor fan out can I clean out the mouse house or do I need to pull half the dash apart !! I had the heater going full blast when this all happened.........do you think the heater core would get hot enough to burn a nest or are they eating wires !!!!!!!!!!!

It took me more time to get my Core fee back at Orielly than it did to do the starter. I disconnected the Positive cable which gave me slack to drop the starter on the ground and disconnect all the connections then recconect and install the 1 bolt that holds mine in.
i had gotten one from a girl at work that came off her husbands xj
didnt pay attention to the threading my burnt one had a helicoil in it and this one didnt so after 2 hours i took it out and tried to see why it wouldnt go (blonde moment) it pulled right back out no threads but since i had already converted the connector to the pre 98 o ring i just bought a new starter for 60$ gave them the burnt one and now i have the one i got from that girl as a back up just need to get a helicoil for it
In that regard it's the same stuff across the Chrysler-era really... grounds, grounds, grounds. For OBD-II models the braid between the firewall and block is no longer considered a "ground" but rather "RF interference mitigation" or some such. It's not as bad as Renix but grounds are really very important with the PCM-integrated voltage regulator.
Im sure its not a good thing but the last few times. Ive tried cranking it over i have had smoke cone out of the intake ??

Hey guys, quick question on a spur of the moment decision... my t-case blew up, so before putting the new one in, i figured why not add an SYE.. so my question is... does anybody have experience with the Alloy USA SYE? If so, would you recommend it.. and you use a stock xj shaft right? I remember hearing someone say they used a zj shaft for some reason.. which would work better and be beefier? Last question.. would it be better to try to save up the money for the Adam's Driveshaft and Offroad SYE kit with their driveshaft or would I be just as well off to get the Alloy USA one and just get one of their driveshafts later on? Thanks for the help, and sorry for the big block of text!

My understanding is that they're all pretty much the same within the standard price range. A front auto XJ shaft is used in the rear. I think the ZJ shaft is 2" longer for higher lifts. I'm not positive of this information, though.

First, wait for someone to confirm this cause I don't have personal experience with SYEs:

Use the zj shaft I believe and the main part of tyre sye is the shaft. Does it compare to, lets say RR etc. have you tried googling reviews
