Well I had my jeep back a couple days ago from having the sye installed, and it wouldn't go into 4hi. Couldn't even make it part way between 2hi and 4hi. I took it back to the 4wd store and it turns out something around the fork or the fork itself wasn't machined properly by Rugged Ridge. So just a bit of info for people, according to the 4wd store it happens fairly often with Rugged Ridge's sye.
On a side note, I accidentally went up the huge steep hill to get to my house(out of habit), and my engine temp started skyrocketing on the way up. Would that be because my tranny temp was high and caused my coolant to become much higher too? Since I don't have a tranny cooler currently.

Well nothing ever functions properly lol. I dunno what else would cause it heat up that bad, I was only around 2k rpms so I doubt it was the engine havin issues. Im about to order the B&M 70264 cooler so hopefully that'll help. And I'll switch wire my fan soon too, although it works now as long as my defrosters are on.

Stock tranny cooler = dumps heat into engine radiator
Drive in a lower gear up hills, make sure your TV cable is taught and TPS is in good shape so that the transmission shifts and locks/unlocks when it's supposed to.
If you've gotten the temp up that hot from an endeavor like that check the ATF and make sure it isn't burnt. I'd recommend looking into an aftermarket (or just dedicated really) transmission cooler, definitely if you have large tires on stock gears.

I have a b&m cooler on its way for the tranny now too. I havent checked those other things though.
But really that hill is massive lol. Ive seen cars that didnt get a running start lose momentum and have to crawl up or turn around.
Thanks for the info. My tranny fluid didnt look too bad but its definetely on my to do list.

Wix oil filters, most say they're good. Are the ones at Wal-Mart the same stuff though? They're so cheap... lol
Anyone known what # is for our XJs?
Also, Rotella, is that a synthetic?

Rotella is Shell's brand of heavy duty oil. It comes in a bazillion varieties, but generally you'll only find Rotella Triple T 15w40 conventional or Rotella T6 5w40 synthetic.
Hey guys... 98 XJ always over heating... Found the issues (so far so good) : clogged radiator and bad radiator cap. I basically have a new cooling system now. She stays below 210 driving and creeps to 210 at stop n go. Even with AC on. I hope that's all it was. Thanks for all your help and suggestions.. Again.. If you in San Antonio.. Come to Dave and Busters and I'll hook you up.

That Wix filter, I don't have to modify anything else right? I'm down for an oversized filter. Its not hard to put on right?
