Maybe it was because it was a Chevy, but the blue rubber Flepro baskets always leaked on the Vortec Heads.

Amps
Ohms
Dc volts
Ac volts

Just turn the dial to what you want to measure and it will say on the screen what it s set to. You will use the dc and ohms settings on a vehicle.
Well that's for big circuits so you can measure amps without breaking the circuit. True RMS? That's where the real money is in em lol. At school we have the $700 ones. I can't remember the number off of the top of my head

This. Analog is best for less precise things. Or just simple checks in stuff

Blower motor resistor? Is that the switch directly behind the little turn dial thing that increases the amount of air that is blown out? Mine was partially melted but i didnt replace it. I only have 2 settings as far as i know. Low and Full F-16 engine blast. 96 SE. I find it weird it only has 2 settings.

I've never used it for amperage, but yea the clamp is so you can test without breaking joints or with a load. It's was just a decent price, and one a lot of people had, so it's the one I got. It's always ohms or ac volts at work.

Do you plan on having the head decked? If I had the head off I would at least replace the lifters and maybe port the head too. How many miles do you have on it now?

Yeah we use those for AC current, current is what kills you lol. I've done a little with them but I've always seen them used in more AC applications like you said, then measuring current as well.

All I use the clamp for is a way to hang it, so I have 2 hands for the leads. I wish it had a magnet strap.

Not sure where the resistor is on a 96, but on 97+ its in the HVAC box underneath the passenger-side dash. The resistor pack actually has only has 3 resistors in it, the 4th fan speed setting bypasses it and runs direct from the motor. Blown resistors or melted connectors are common as that thing gets pretty hot.

96 and earlier the same way.2 screws holding it in so the air flows over the windings.

Like Salad said, it will be near the blower motor.

145k miles.

I can't afford that right now. She's gonna get new gaskets and that's it. I may have ran it for 2 miles after I noticed what was going on. I think I got it shut down quick enough that I didn't cause any other damage. I was on 59 right at New Castle.
