Looking to replace my fuse panel under my dash. 1990 2 dr. My blower fuse blew one day so I replaced it and then it blew again only creating a lot of smoke and now my turn signals won't work. Just looking to replace the entire panel under the dash. Please feel free to comment especially if this idea is retarded.

My bad, but yeah its basically an electronically controlled carb.

It serves a large purpose. It can be successfully disabled, but MUST be done so in the PROM in the ECM before removing the actual solenoid. If you simply remove the EGR system from the car, but do not disable it in the ECM, you will run into significant problems. You will likely run into detonation, the engine will run very poorly, lack power, and will probably run on the hot side as well. The ECM alters fuel and spark advance when it thinks EGR should be on. If no EGR flow is possible because you removed it, you will have a lean condition which will be further aggravated by advanced timing....In other words...it will suck.

You will also not pass any sort of emissions testing.

This is something you absolutely need to fix.
heh, emissions testing. Don't have that here in Va,

sounds like there's a short in the system. replacing the fuse panel probably won't fix it.

yes. Although it may be a bit different but the majority of how the XJ was built didn't change throughout the years.

I remember when my pump went worst sound in the world I thought I had little oil in my engine. Crappy scraping/grinding noise it was.

I have searched all through the harness inside the cab and in the engine compartment and can't seem to find a short. Took me three days to make sure. I took the panel loose and looked on the back where all the wires meet up to the fuses and man it looks like crap. I haven't tried yet but does anyone know if you can disconnect the wires from the back of the panel. It sounds insane but I am willing to do whatever to get this done. It's no longer my daily driver so it's game on with the elbow grease but I would prefer to work smarter not harder.

heres the diagram under my hood, a bit different, but that colored one helps to make sense of it all.

k, so heres the thing with the egr valve. its not running ****ty at all. if anything, its running too rich. when i stomp on the throttle, it bogs down and will backfire out the throttle body. it actually drives really nice when i lowball it. i drove it a short distance and had no problems unless i opened the throttle too much. then it would bog out and lurch. sooo i dont know. but its 98 bux at napa for the egr valve. i'll pick it up eventually.

so my next question, if it was removed properly, what would i hafta do to put it back in? is that a huge friggin mess?

Hey i have a 94 front clip and i'm trying to put it on my 01, anyone do a down grade before or should I just bite the bullet and get a 97+ for a easy swap? I already tore off the old one and it was damaged by a deer so its no good

I can grab some pics if anyone thinks they will help...

I personally think the newer front end looks better. But I wouldn't see why not. I put a newer front clip on my 95. Had no problems.
