XJ Ask the Question Thread
I recently acquired a 91 Limited and there is a plethora of added-on wiring under the dash that is not hooked to anything. I took the lower panel off to get a better look and see what was actually needed and there was a linkage cable of some sort that seems to go into the console at the front. It was not connected to anything and there was nothing to connect it to that I can see. It has a bit of "spring-loaded-ness" at the end and a plastic connector molded to the end. The steering wheel still locks fine and the auto trans linkage works as it should as far as I can tell.
Any idea what this cable is?
Yeah, I could pull the console and maybe figure it out, but there are extra wires, lights, and gauges installed in the console on this rig and I don't want to mess with it until it gets a bit warmer outside.
TIA

ok so im trying to find out what shock absorbers i should use on my 90 mj 4x4 4.0 5-speed with a dana 44 posi... any suggestions, it is stock height but sees alot of off-road time, im looking on amazon right now but im not sure what to go with... any thoughts?
I've heard good things about monroe and doetsch tech shocks, so those would be your best bet without breaking the bank.
If you want a nice ride, get some RE Mono Tubes or OME Nitrochargers.
If you're really feeling spendy you can always get a set of Bilstein 5150s

Ok, so I read all kinds of opinions on seafoaming.. I wnated to ask you guys how much seafoam would ou pour in the crankcase (oil)? and also how long would you run the engine like that before an oil change? Some say 30 miles, other say 300...
Thanks!

As far as shocks go, I wouldn't get those.
They're cheap and generally ride like **** on lifted Jeeps.
Go with a nicer shock, you won't regret it.

Do i need an alignment if i only lift the rear? I had it aligned with an AAL but then got full leaf packs that gave another 2-3".. so should i get it aligned again?
Hi guys,
I am new to the forum and new to jeeps as well. I just bought a 99 cherokee sport with the 4.0L and Auto trans. It has 194k on it and has a really rough idle and sometimes stalls. It runs great when you are on the gas. I drove it to the auto parts store last night and did a decent burnout so it's not down on power, just won't idle correctly. I cleaned the IAC, put in new plugs, checked for vaccum leaks and fixed one (now the heater controls work!), I took the map sensor off and applied some vaccum to it and got the idle to change with different amounts of vaccum so I'm assuming it's probably ok. I unplugged the 02 sensor and nothing really changed so I'm assuming it might be bad but I thought there should probably be a check engine light if it was? What do you think I should check next? Any help will be very much appreciated.
