HELP!!

Got up this morning, drive to school and when I got out I noticed a major coolant leak coming from the front of the engine block. I have had problems with coolant before. Cracked head, bad water pump, bad thermostat/housing. I've fixed all of these problems but now it's leaking orange like crazy. I got some pictures...

You need new freeze plugs. Replace them all.

Do I have to pull the manifold? Looks like it is accessible from above...
Thanks

You're gonna want to do all of them, or you'll probably be doing them one at a time every couple months.

Back up about 10 feet and pull forward. Backing up usually lets it free.

Tho, you shouldn't have to do that. If that's an issue I would look into adjusting your linkage or servicing the t-case.

How many are there? Is there anything that could be causing this? Or are they just defective

Agreed. Shifting to Reverse takes the load of the components when you're stationary, but it should shift easily between 2H and 4H while driving. Just let off the gas, shift, and continue as normal.

They rust through over time, especially if you have a history of cooling problems. They are cheap to replace, but it's a time consuming job. I think there are 5 on the side and one on the back. I didn't do the rear one on mine.

I thinks its the 4wd sensor. The one on the front of the case by the front output shaft.

I'm swapping a sealed output for a non sealed output, I gotta plug that sensor hole as its not used...
No one?

Which sensor are you talking about? Do you have a picture of it?

There's only 2 that I know of. The speed sensor on the tail housing and the 4wd switch (Like you mentioned). The 4wd switch appears to be on the back of the case.

Got a picture of it?

Not with me. Its not the speed sensor, thats got a bolt down c-clip like retention. This is actually threaded into the case itself. Its gotta be the 4wd sensor.

I could be wrong on placement. I've been dragging around non sealed output cases, so this one hasn't burned its image into my head yet.

Sorry for being impatient. Not intended, just excited.

If I'm not mistaken, I very well could be, the 4wd switch is vacuum operated... and looks like this?

What's the OEM Part Number for the TCC (Torque Converter Lockup) Solenoid in a 97 AW4?

If no one knows, has anyone successfully replaced it and can give me a link?
