I have done a search here and didn't find anything but perhaps I typed it wrong. Anyways, here goes.
I have a 99 XJ I bought a few months ago. Every now and then (once every two weeks or so) when I go to start the Jeep it will sound like the battery is very dead, barely turning over and not starting. If I turn the ignition off, wait a few seconds, and turn it back to start the motor turns and starts like normal.
The battery is new because I replaced it after the first time this happened. I haven't seen the battery voltage during the start because it always catches me by surprise but when I turn the key after a failed start it always goes to 12 volts.
The father-in-law thought it might be a dead spot in the starter while I was leaning towards the starter solenoid. Any other suggestions before I just go start replacing parts at random?
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Also check and clean the battery terminals - even if they look ok.
You should not need to replace the starter - which is especially good since you can't replace the solenoid without replacing the starter on your jeep.
I have high oil pressure. almost 80psi. Ive checked and replaced the oil sending unit, old one an new one both read the same thing. Also when I kill the motor I can hear the oil draining down into the bottom of the pan. I have also tried SeaFoam to no avail. I'm out of ideas other than yanking the head off. Any ideas.

Oil draining back into the pan is normal. What oil weight are you using? 5w-30 or 0w-30 are what you should be using. The oil pressure should go down at idle once the engine reaches operating temperature. Mine is around 70psi when cold, 20-30psi at warm idle, 65-75psi under load (to give you an idea what you should be experiencing)
I've had very good luck cleaning gunk out of oil passages using Auto-RX (do a google search). It's much gentler than seafoam, but it works over 3000miles - and works excellent.
I assume you already tried changing the oil and filter?

I'm using 10w30. It stays at nearly 80psi all the time only changes 2to3 psi. I didnt realize that 4.0 normaly ran so high on oil pressure. I fig that 80psi was way too high. THANKS for the input. Oh yes I even switched brand of oil filter thinking maybe the fist might be too restrictive.

Hey guys ive got a 92 cherokee im working on and it has some problems. The oil pressure gauge reads 80psi both when the truck is running or shut off. Im guessing its the cluster?
Also the driver side front window doesnt go up but the owner before told me it works just it was rolled down to far and wont come back up. Could this be a window regulator? thank you

having trouble finding exactly what i need so here goes..
looking at a XJ that needs new tires, but i want to put the stock setup from a Rubicon TJ on it anyway.. can i fit the moabs and the 245.17.16 or will i need to lift it.
this is going to be a daily driver type deal, my other car is my toy. not looking to build a rock crawler. thanks in advance

no you can't. The max you can fit without a lift or trimming is 235/75R15s. A 245/75R16 is almost 2" more in diameter
Ok, I got a volt gauge question. How high does your gauge read when your XJ is running? I've never seen mine above roughly 13 volts, and at night, with the lights, radio, heater, etc. on it reads just above 12 (I expect the drop with that much draw...). At first I thought it was just mine, but we've had a few early 90's models come through my shop, and the gauges in those all read roughly the same as mine. I've checked the battery and charging system, and all is in proper working order. Is this just a Cherokee thing that I need to get used to?
