the orings in that kit don't always fit perfectly

 

Should I purchase another set but from the Jeep dealer? Tight on cash but if Im going there already would you purchase the adapter as well? I want to put all new parts on but for this If I can stop the leak with just the correct o-rings Il save the $50 for the adapter.

 

When I took mine off I pulled the torx bolt that the adapter is held on by off. There is another o ring on that bolt. Not sure if you replaced that one also. If not that could be your leak if you replaced all of the other ones. When I get home I can take a pic to show u if u like.

 

There was 2 o-rings on the screw in shaft and 1 large o-ring that goes between the adapter base and the block, I replaced all 3. I found the correct size o-rings out of the HELP isle kit.

I really appreciate the help, Im determined to figure this out.

Sorry I mean the HELP aisle in your part store. They sell a kit with quite a few o-rings in it. I found the part # in a different thread. What do you think replace the whole adapter and get the dealer o-rings?
edit: Im going to buy the dealer o-rings and take it from there. If it still leaks Il order the adapter. Last question, should I coat the 3 o-rings with oil before installing?

 

I would try the o rings first.

 

Yes those are it. I have read of some people replacing only the one on the block and still having leaks. I don't see how putting a light coat of oil on them would hurt but I am not an expert on that one.

 

I just got back from the dealer with the new o-rings and a mopar filter. I asked the parts clerk about putting a light coat of oil on them like you do on the oil filter gasket and he said Id be fine not putting oil on them. I dont think he really knows. If I dont see anymore info stating otherwise Il still coat them. Im going to tear into it soon so Il let you know how it goes. Btw the 3 o-rings were $6 at the Jeep dealer.
