you can, the swap for earlier XJs/MJs has an additional hitch though...

on early XJs/MJs, the speedo was cable driven, not electronic. This means that in order to do the swap, you'll need to find a full cluster from another cable driven (older) XJ/MJ. Other than that you'll need to swap your oil pressure sending unit and coolant temperature sending unit for equivalent ones from a full cluster XJ/MJ.

Easiest if you grab all three things from the same XJ/MJ in the junkyard. Not sure what year they stopped the cable driven speedo, but best guess is to look for pre-91 XJs/MJs

Anyone? How does everyone overlook my post?? Jeep has bad idle and if you rev it the RPMs drop way low and jeep starts to shake and want to cut off. Then returns to normal. Any ideas? Just cleaned the IAC and didn't fix it

i'd start with the basics - clean up your ground points, and check your spark plugs. Also run some fuel injector cleaner though. I would also test the MAP sensor and throttle position sensors. If those check out ok and the condition still exists I would look at the upstream o2 sensor as being bad.

I just got new duratracs. quick question: I hit a patch of ice and my tires started spinning and once they hit pavement again the back tires squealed just a bit. I think im just being paranoid, but does this wear the tire a lot?

Here is a pic of the spacer on the front. Measured 21" from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender. So that would make it 4" of total lift all the way around. Appreciate the help guys!

It's not going to hurt your tread. It does wear the tire more than usual but nothing to worry about.

you could, but honestly in these engines i don't see the point. I run a blend (part-synth) oil usually so it doesn't break down as much under off-road + daily driver usage. I run a 5000-6000mi oil change interval though. The only way you'll see a benefit from synthetic is if you plan to run a longer OCI (like 10-12k) with a mid-point filter change.

Just a heads up too - synthetic oil cleans the engine better, so if you have a bit of gunk buildup, your seals may start leaking where they previously did not if you choose to switch.

That spacer looks like its bigger than an inch so it's probably 1.5 to 2"'s. that being said if you actually have 4" and I'm not convinced from the pictures that you do that your coils are probably sagged out too and po put those spacers in the compensate. You might want to consider fixing it. Might want to make sure those are stock springs on there and a budget boost kit

I gotta a few questions,

I just received my bumpers from L and L fab and they came bare.

I was wondering how hard would it be keep a Bedlinered bumper clean?

Would it look good or would it look trashy?

Any advantage to just painting it satin black with regular smooth paint?

My dad seems to think it would be a better idea to just paint 'em but I think the bedliner would hold up better and just look better.

Bedliner is amazing. I'm no guru but a good roll on or stray on bedliner is nice. The entire lower section of my XJ is bedlined and it is on there really good. It Regular paint chips pretty easy and the bedliner is just insanely attached if you allow correct drying time.

But now a jug of Dupli-Color roll on bed liner is around $100 in CO. So it's mainly your choice for looks, durability, and expense.

I ordered my bumper bare on purpose. Get some sandpaper, I used 3m with a fine grit, and rub it down good...prime it twice. I use spray on bedliner 2-3 coats and it's holding up nicely. I have no regrets

Edit: 3rd pic is old doesn't really help your question just too lazy too delete. 1st pic is primed and the 2nd pic is the first coat of bedliner. After each coat dries clean it and spray again.

Depending on where you're at, if you have a place that can powdercoat it, it shouldn't cost too much. A place near me told me they'd paint both my front and rear tube-style bumpers for $100 before i install them. I know that's more than a can of spray paint. But, it'd last a heck of a lot longer.
