Default broken lug

I installed a new axle today, and after installation I noticed it has a lug bolt broken to about half length on one of the wheels (not enough left for the lug nut to grab). Can I just replace a lug? how? is it easy?
Thanks,
Dan

yes you can replace it,it will need to be pressed out, then the new one pressed back in.

Beat the old one out with a hammer and pull the new one in from the back with an impact gun, a spacer, and an extra lugnut.

have you successfully done that before? sounds kinda sketchy, but I don't have a press.

I think I can get a hold of one of those...sounds better than beating it with a hammer.

i have used the BFH removal/lug nut installer method SEVERAL times. it helps if you keep everything lubed up good so the nut doesnt bind on the spacer.

I've used the hammer method many times and an impact works great and fast. A big rachet or breaker bar and a cheater pipe work almost as good as an impact but a lot slower.

x2, i do this all the time at work. as long as you have enough access behind the hub to pull out then install the new stud. note: dont miss and damage the threads on another stud or youll get more pratice at this.

has anyone done this hammer method on a d44? is there enough clearance behind the hub to install a new lug?

Yes, plenty of room.

I found an old D30 lower ball joint nut makes a perfect spacer (castle towards flange)for pulling the new lugstud into flange. Breaker bar and socket was all i needed.

It worked! And much easier than I expected. Just a drip of pb and a couple of taps and the lug popped right out. Thanks guys!
