Seriously, just sit down and wrench on it for a few hours. You may get dirty and break a couple bolts, but it'll be fine. You'll feel accomplished knowing you fixed it yourself and save yourself some money

Can't install new nutstrips if my bumper is permanently rusted in place!
Great directions!! But, they are wrong. I need a 3 hands 1) hold the brackets, and 2) spin the bolt, and 3) pinch the nut strip to stabilize it.
I am just afraid I will not be able to rethread that bolt, since it's got so much torque as I remove it. I don't want to have the XJ at the dealer for 2 weeks now that it's snow time. I will drive the winter with the coat hanger.

I was afraid the bolt would not re-thread into a loose flopping nut strip.
Mechanic was able to swap out the bracket.
