Or someone posted a link to Redhead gear boxes a while back and they looked pretty good but a little pricey. Not sure. I got lots of other things to do before I get to replacing it. Its not leaking so I am not in a huge rush to replace it. Its just got about a 1/4" of play in the output shaft.
I already ordered a new radiator. $55 on Fleabay with a lifetime warranty. I will take my chances.

Redhead is arguably the best steering boxes in the country. They take factory boxes and rebuild them while making modifications to improve upon known flaws. And I don't know the current status, but it used to be a lifetime warranty regardless of application
The question tends to be whether or not they have steering boxes for your vehicle

And just checked, they only have a 1 year warranty.
Edit - Just sent them a message about rebuilding mine as they list it as an option. We will see if its any cheaper when they respond.

I got an email back from them earlier today. Said #18510 is the correct one for XJ's. He also said I can send mine in and its still the same $296 price. Takes a few days to machine and rebuild. Waiting on another email back to see exactly what they do during the rebuild. Sounds pretty good so far.

It's always somethin'! I remember years ago when vehicles were all getting the aluminum radiators with plastic tanks and everyone was complaining about what cheap crap they were. Now it's come full circle and nobody trusts the all metal ones. It's a bit different now though, those folks that were complaining back then were used to brazing brass radiators to fix them.
I've had good luck with my lifetime warranty cheap-o POS so far...
Any idea what route you'll go with the steering box? I've seen a lot of complaints of POS "rebuilt" (repainted?) boxes around here.

The x2 on mine didn't include 2 more that didn't even make it off of the parts counter as opening the box they were leaking fluid all over the place.
I've said before that if a class action were to ever get off the ground against that company I would be first in line. They are nothing but dirtbags. A part that allows the driver to maintain control over where the vehicle goes is pretty damn mission critical in my book and they treat it like it's an interior dome light. It's not right and to me could be down right criminal.

Posted in a FB group and was chosen to have my Jeep, with my consent, used on a redbubble (like etsy) account for shirts and such. https://www.redbubble.com/people/sdr...sc=u&p=t-shirt
