The kinda bad news: I noticed a vibration yesterday and stopped to check it out. I figured it was likely a driveshaft u-joint so I removed the front ds hoping it was the culprit. It wasnít. Turns out it was my rear ds, rear u-joint. Making noise at slow speed by the time I realized something was up, and had some movement in it the factory didnít intend. I had about 350 miles to go. I know this was foolish, but I greased it and crossed my fingers. It was ok at speed, but vibrating pretty bad for the last 5 miles, which I did at about 20 mph. Just made it.
Hey, could've been a lot worse. I mean, I'm sure it sucked driving 40 minutes just to go 5 miles, but at least the u-joint is an easy fix. Glad you made it safely, man.

Made an inspection plate/heat shield for my flywheel and CPS from another type of transmission. Was a Ford Ranger 2.3L.

So I have had this vibration at about 80 MPH on the highway for awhile. Been meaning to check it out. Thing is I am very rarely on the highway and even more rare doing 80. Thought it might have been a driveline vibration. Ujoints seemed OK so was wondering if it was the driveshaft(s). Well when I rotated my tires it changed the vibration somewhat and now it was happening around 60 MPH. A garage I am in good with was nice enough to check the balance on my tires. They were not right but are now. All is good.

rule of thumb for vibrations. 1 If the shake is in the steering wheel generally the front tires. 2. If you can feel vibration in rear seat- rear tires. While at speed if you take tranny out of gear and it stops then it is probably in the drive train.

Got them from Rockauto. Brand is Pacesetter. No, they were by no means fun to install. I probably had the same amount of fun you did. Had to ratchet strap one of the pipes to get it in place. You can read all about my fun in my build thread.

Washed it. Clayed it. Started polishing out the paint, then my mom called and I had to run two errands for her and a bird already **** on my XJ

Anyway, you can see the front fender and front door are finished. The rear door and aft are un-touched

50/50 shot, but before any polish or sealant. Just M105 + a Griots 5" Microfiber cutting pad. Lots of scratches that are too deep to remove. I already have clearcoat failure on my hood, so trying to keep as much on the rest of the XJ as I can.
Will finish the exterior with M105 and a MF pad, move to M205 and a white foam pad, then seal with Collinite 845
