if it were i wouldn't question it, i think it was a facebook post or something like that, it wasn't on the forum or your website i'm sure of it. either way, i'll go check on your website myself but while we're here i guess it is indeed something i should do?
what i gathered is that you secure a wire to one of the blower motor screws (so no need to splice the wires) and bolt it to the chassis.
since it's a 96 does it differ from renix era XJs or they're the same. thanks

For you Renix guys though, this is a simple and worthwhile upgrade.

I only suggest the video , because If I find a place to put it while I dismantled it, I am fairly certain my time there would be limited.

It's not as necessary on 91 and later. You can't have too many grounds though.

another question, how do you remove the seat bracket on the later model XJs? is it spot welded all around? heard they're a pain to remove

You can see the spot welds in the photo lol. There's one on each end and some along the floor. Didn't you ask that already? Rust from underneath?
Go to Princess Auto and get the little spot weld remover bits. They come in a two pack
hello! i own a 2000 Jeep cherokee sport with 84k miles 3 inch rough country lift. I recently went on a trip from Delaware to Vermont and got caught in a snow storm on the way (the entire way), nearly 3/4 into the trip I seemed to have power fluctuations very shortly which then disappeared. The trip totaled nearly 11 hours at pretty low speeds, the next morning my battery was dead and i eventually realized it was because the light controlled by a mercury switch under the hood fell of its mount during the drive which im not sure is related to anything other than killing the battery..once I got the jeep jumped we took a drive up to Maine at which time I started having my guages jumping around and shorting out all the while my battery was pinned. I also observed that i lost my low gear and had to resort to using my manual 1.2 and 3 which seemed to work fine which seemed to coincide with my abs light and occasionally my check gauges light. eventually once it got warmed up the problem disappeared even the drive home was smooth. a couple days later more gauge cluster issues and abs light trans issues. brought it to shop it was throwing codes at least two codes for the speed sensor and another for the alternator which was replaced at least 2 weeks before the trip. mechanic had me buy 170 dollar sensor seeing as i had a new alt and the sensor changed nothing. he asked me to take it to the previous mech who installed the alternator which I did and he after looking over everything extensively relays fuses connections etc decided I may need a new computer so I got one for a ton of cash...so here is the deal with all his electrical equip attached to the car he deduced that the dash was only receiving 9 volts and asking for more which was shorting the system sucking power from the alt (which also got replace again under warranty), that was with the old comp with the new comp it was getting like 19 volts! I dont really understand the issue as well as I should I feel because its electrical based and all the obvious things have been ruled out. 3 weeks no jeep please help (i also would like to add that if i baby the gas pedal i wont get the short once I give to much power abs light trans loses atleast 1st...mechanic is trying going through the harnesses next to find the short) TPS cps and nss seem to be fine

thanks, i've seen them too but like the floor pans i figured the guy drilled holes himself in order to spot weld it back in place. was not sure if that's how he got it out because i never saw it mentionned in the threads i found.

The alternator's voltage is controlled by the engine computer under the hood. Not the dash gauge... It's just a gauge. What you are describing sounds very much like a grounding problem or some other wiring issue.
What needs to be done is the connections taken apart and cleaned. No more "looking". Unwrap the plastic wire loom and tape as it comes off of the battery's negative post and follow it back. You will get to some wires that bolt to the right side of the engine. These serve as the ground for the computer. They're probably corroded. The fender ground is probably also in rough shape.
This is going to take time and patience. You might also want to learn how to use a multimeter to detect shorts and high resistance. I guess on the plus side you've already replaced everything else.
Ahhh well then. You should see the mess I made (or rather my friend). We drilled out the crossmember/mount and he used flux core to stick it to the floor. Maybe a standard drill bit would be better lol

The only things i can remember to mention is that the wiring loom that clips to the rocker backing plate is a little bit of a pain to remove.

Lol sorry. The spot weld cutter is extremely useful. It resembles a miniature hole saw. It's fantastic on the factory welds. Definitely recommend them! I mean you may wind up using a normal bit if the welds are booger-tastic. A little bar will pop that crossmember right out.

Hey fellow JeepHeads!
Just a quick question here. I have a 1997 Cherokee XJ Sport 2wd. This has a dead/ solid axle up front. I am looking to replace almost everything on the front in regards to steering/ suspension. I am looking at a steering kit from 1AAuto.com. I have included the direct link below to the specific kit I am looking at. This kit says it's for a 4wd, but if I have the dead axle which mimics a 4wd as far as suspension, I'm betting this kit will fit. Please let me know if anyone has experience with this kit or if you think it will fit.
Thanks in advance for your knowledge!
