TOTM FOR OCTOBER 2011 INTAKE MODIFICATIONS!
TOTM (Topic Of The Month) is a group effort posting helpful info. Post what pics you have on the topic, as well as helpful info for people looking into these topics for their first time. The Idea is to have a less hardcore verison of pirates TOTM here on CF.
Let's see what you've done to let those engines breath easier; Cool air, snorkels ram air, after market, or home brewed?
Remember to update any of our older TOTM threads as you build, & help me, help you by throwing out some suggestions for future topics here. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f19/to...gestion-93121/

Here's how mine started. Just a checker cone, & some free time...

Found this bling under the hood of a dodge neon in the junkyard, & cut about 5"s off to make it fit. Also needed the flex fitting I picked up at homedepot (plumming isle) for $2-$3 bucks.

After that I figured since I didnt need my A/C condenser any more, & had some galvanized sheet metal laying around.... what the heck

Made a cardboard templet, & cut out a small section of my header pannel for more air flow past the headlight. Cut it out, bent it up, mounted with some self tappers, & lined it with rubber door trim/molding (yes ALL edges have been lined).

ditto on the cone filter, mutilated the stock air box to act a splash gaurd more than a heat gaurd. i really like the galvanized shield you have there.

Thanks! Ya I'm not sure how "cool" it really keeps it on the trail, but the ram air surely delivers better air at decent speeds. Plus it keeps the filter a lot cleaner than when it was just hanging over the gap between the body & engine.

Best price I like AFE filters more then K&N. Mounts right to the stock intake setup fits perfectly. Also this kit will not work if you have ABS/Dana 35. This kit is only for non ABS/8.25 rear

I got this cai when I first got my jeep and regretted it ever since. If you live in the desert or don't drive through water it's fine but if you do cross water on occasion I wouldent recommend this type of intake. Going to be switching to a cowl intake as soon as I have all the pieces.
