Seriously, though! I don't have a radio. So my iPod would cover any extra noise.
I'm still planning my interior snorkel.
Another down side, there isn't tons of room to mount it inside.

definately not a plug and play mod. pulling air from inside is a really involved job. i was thinking remove the glove box and utilize that place.
as far as radio... i'm a singer im my jeep. MA YAAH KING YAAH BIRD YAAH (dumb&dumber)

I would assume going over the valve cover with the pipe would be the easiest, but I am not sure if the hood would close all the way.

I have the K&N, was a free 99 upgrade... traded for the stock box. I Would not have bought it, but like it now that I have it. Simple clamp to throttle body and 1 support bolt to fender. This mod is a good one, but don't buy into all the hype of better MPG and HP you can feel! lol. it helps but was nothing I really noticed other then it sounds better on accel and it seems to run smoother on hard accel. not trying to turn people away from this at all. Just go into it knowing it wont make a huge difference. Also some intake kits will NOT work with throttle body spacers, so rear the notes befor eordering as somtimes things you may have already done will hinder what you may buy.

If i where to go buy somthing it would be that stage II AFE setup or a snorkle.

as far as me, no. I Don't like deep water or, mud though. I hate cleaning it off and the damage it can do overtime. but somone who does should get a snorkle to be safe as they are cheap insurance vs the cost of a motor. my filter sits roughly 38-40 inches off the ground. thats a lot of water.
Any one running an intake with a open cone filter like mine or the others posted should look into a prefilter, it helps keep the large things out of hte spines of the fitler and hels heep it cleaner longer.

Someone posted a valve of sorts for this sort of thing as well. If the CAI gets submerged the valve opens up preventing complete water ingestion.
I have never used one, though, so I have no idea how well they work, or if they do at all. But its something that could help someone.

Im gonna do the cowl method very soon I just cant decide If I want to use the stock airbox and tube or do my own filter and custom intake.

the bypass valve does work. however with mine tucked in the engine bay its just a short ram intake not a true cold air, the bypass valve would sit at the same height and would just suck water at the same time. But if you run a intake low and out side of the engine bay It would be a "cold air intake" and with the filter sitting low it would need a Bypass valve.
Just to clarify the styles of intakes-
short ram "cold air intake" (short smooth tube and a more free flowing design then a quiet factory style intake/filter) typicly has a air damn to limit the amount of engine heat/air from entering the intake.

true Cold air intake (filter gets "cold" air from outside of side the engine bay, eliminating exhaust/engine temps from heating the intake air temps)

snorkle (Style of cold air but with the intention of raising the intake high above typicle water levels, as well as reaching cold air and lowering intake temps)

Is that a Mustang 4.6 V8? Only asking because I had a Mustang before the Jeep with a AFE as well before americanmuscle.com took them down lol.
